Question for you guys that have put an aftermarket headlight on. What did you use to cut the fairings cleanly like that? I was considering a dremel but I don't think I could get straight cut like that. Also what rear fender did you use? I can't seem to find a generic rear one like you can with the front.
i just used a small electric saw them cleaned it off with a belt sander afterwards. its a crf rear fender. you have to cut your own holes and maybe do a little welding but it wasnt to difficult.

I WOULD NOT do that...

Part of the NX250 mystique is the plastics...without them it's just a liquid cooled 250...

They are just too expensive and hard to come by...also (IMO) screws up the looks...

I like the crotch rocket styling on a thumper...or, you could just buy one of those "super single" kits for a few thousand...

Drex, how'd/ where'd you get the big brake?

Apex and Drex, glad to see y'all here...

The portion where the fairings meet the headlight shroud and the headlight shroud it self is cracked beyond repair by the PO which is why I'm going with an aftermarket headlight eventually. For now I'm just riding it naked.

For you guys that have an aftermarket headlight, did you have to ditch the stock speedo? I'm curious how a light would be mounted to the triple tree without an aftermarket speedo or getting rid of it all together. Any pics from the riders POV?

I decided to stick with the light aluminum honda hub/brake assembly instead of the heavy steel suzuki hub.

I'm just using the stock brake rotor because of this

pretty awesomely, I've been trying to work something out with my forks though.

my NX needs tons of work right now though, I need to replace the clutch, rejet my carb, rebuild the forks, and it could really probably do with a steel brake line

X2, I hear ya....

my suspension is DEAD, and I'm scared of my front brakes...

Great motor and chassis tho:D

hey just found this thread through a google search. where did you get the black decal kit for this bike? i just purchased an nx250 recently in livermore.
that bike doesn't have any decals?

he painted it.

Big bore kit??

Hi all, I have an NX250 myself and absolutely love it. Just want to get a little more out of it. I have already deristricted exhaust and air intake and changed jetting in carby. Does anyone know anything about oversized pistons, lumpy cams or anything else?

Cheers

Hey dude, sorry for the long time to reply...

The NX thread is over on ADV. (sorry to say) But that's where the number of owners hang out... where there might be 3 on here.

Jeez, there's TONS to update....

1st off, I've found a list of compatible bikes for the BIG brake upgrade.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322268&page=155

2nd off, cams. I'm looking at them in a window right now. $255.00 "on customer core" That means you send them in. We have also dispelled the myth that AX-1 cams are the same... They are NOT! (THX, Customerservice!)

Suspension. On the cheap get a SV650 shock. On the $$$ Get a custom valved "worx" or "works"... I cant remember.

Front forks: I'm making a list right now hoping I can get factory parts from a 37mm CRFail230M and use it's valving since it's factory and the travel is almost the same.

From Honda, the rim is $240. http://www.hondaofcoolsprings.com/f..._detail.asp?section=960041&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=2009&fveh=26236

Negative, not yet. I have discovered a TRX(?) that is a 450 and had THE SAME STROKE as the NX though... :D

There's a ton of stuff that still needs to be found out though so don't get yer hopes up.

I know it's a sh.. ton, but you need to read the NX250 thread over on ADV.

There's actually two. And even though one IS the original, it's sad most ppl hang out in the bigger one.

Hey gofastr,

I saw the parts fiche and comparison's you did between the crf230m and nx250 suspension on ADVRider! Are they identical? I mean are crf230 suspension parts gonna fit nx like springs maybe? Maybe the crf230 race tech emulators?
