there are none. did the same search after a buddy asked me the same question. 16,5 inch front rims are race applications only.

Dunlop is suppossed to release a full race DOT 16.5 around November.

 

Why would they do that??

DOT tires are for production class racing, which require OEM wheels.

None of the manufacturers are going to switch to 16.5 wheels.

There is one availabe somewhere but much to wide of a rear, the limited Duc desmofuckingwhatever has 16.5's mounted on it.

 

were talking about front tyres here, most race bike supermotos have a 16,5" up front and a regular 17" at the back. also, the specs for the desmosedici RR list a 16" for the rear (Tires: Bridgestone, front 120/70 R17- rear 200/55 R16). only the motoGP bike has a 16,5 front and rear wheel.

 

I almost bought a used race bike w/ 16.5 Marchesinis for street use a while back. I called the Dunlop distributor and asked him. He said they expected to have their full race DOTs in 16.5s by November. They would have a front 120 but the rear would likely be a 190 making it too large for a SM.

 

the dunlop thing still does not make sense.

DOT tires are for production racing classes, unless something has changed, the only companies making 16.5 front wheels are Marvic and Marchesini, neither of which are OEM parts, which makes them illegal for production racing classes anywhere in north america.

Why would dunlop manufacture a tire to fit on a rim that is illegal for racing use?

 

Buy a Pirelli "Wet" tire (not a rain) and it looks DOT plus it sticks like glue and run it.
