i've got 3.5/4.25 wr/yzf rims. will they fit on a xt225?

i'm giving some thought to selling the tw200 and the wr400. using the superhawk as my daily rider, and buying a xt225 for a play tard and to replace the tw which i use for a side business renting the bike to folks that need to take the dmv test. benifits would be bike consolidation and a little money in the bank, good daily driver, and a bike i could still take to the track. just wondering if my current rims would fit.

My girl has one, will measure tomorrow and try and get it to ya.

Trying to talk her into tarding hers, she only rides in the street with it. After I did the UK mods on it the thing became a little beasty. I think it's a great idea.

...great place for the XT225. The mods I speak of mainly are the carb mods, see "Hard Starting". After I did that mod my girl hopped on and pinned it and the little bike just roosted compared to wheeze it had before.

Also pulling the exhaust tip and removing obstruction helped.

Next will be a Big Gun TTR225 pipe and rejetting. Then maybe some 17s :D

Thats cool. I've seen and heard of a few mods for the XT225, but never heard if they made a noticeable change in performance.

I've been considering getting a KLR250 and supermoto'ing the bugger. It'd be a fun comuter imo.

Couldn't find my calipers but the old tape measure says a tick over 1/2" so I'm guessing 14mm. Hope that helps.
Crow, could i get two more measurements from ya?

Front: i got the same as you, 14-15mm
Back: i got 17mm
Front Caliper mounting bolts: approx 102mm from middle of one mounting bolt to the other. (although a 320 disk might be overkill.....naaaaaaaaahhhhh. never overkill!)

could you let me know the rear axle size, and the caliper mounting bolt distance?

of course there's the issue of the back brake since the xt i think has a drum. if the fronts match could motard the front/sportsman tire the rear.

Ok she just got back. Yup, the rear axle is the same as the front.

No matter how I scrunched my eyes I couldn't make the calpier mounting bolts any farther than 70mm apart. Wouldn't ya need to make a bracket for the 320 anyway? Dude, that would be plain silly . But these things are ridiculously light, like yz250 light, really.

What about putting the YZF forks and swingarm on the little thing? Or some TTR bits(Dunno if they're any better)? They are supposedly the same bike.

Aren't we cute?

That bike looks fun. I can't put my finger on why, but those little Yammy's just got something about them.
