Just got hold of a yz400 which i'm currently restoring. here's a few pics from the build
replaced every bearing as all were shot the engine seems sweet though having just had 4th 5th gears done. had frame/swinger powdercoated. Ohlins shock was found cheap on fleabay and was a bargain at 140. so that should sort the rear out, front seems ok, but will see once its rebuilt. will keep this thread updated weekly, cheers

Thanks not sure on the plastics yet but thinking of going black plastics with chrome check pattern done in vinyl, i want to make it look very different to stock

i didnt like the silver wheels, i decided to do the cheaper option of painting them, came out superb and saved me a ton of cash as well :bannana: happy days!!

hey, nice build, i've been working on mine pretty much every day for the last 3 weeks its getting there now, i'm now upto to the point of painting and graphics, i can't decide now on colour of main body panels, thinking of going white to offset against the black wheels and frame

cut down seat

decided to cut down the seat today, it was not as hard as i first thought, and it came out not to bad

after having a nightmare of what colour to do the panels i decided on Rover Pagent Blue, i hit it with 3 coats of base and 3 top coats of clear, i painted the rear fender white they have also been slightly cut down to follow frame lines

Graphics finally in!!

graphics came today, took my time i used soapy water and heat gun, very easy using this method, wot you guys think i like it , looks modern and fresh, hell of a difference and all this rebuild took about 4 weeks from start to finish! got some handguards and front plate to fit now!

need a 320mm front brake setup as stock setup just aint cutting it, anyone got one for sale?

pirelli supercorsa 160 rear tyre added also didnt like the red caliper so painted them and also polished up the rear brake. added front numberboard as well

Great looking bike! How's it been running/have any more pics? I just started my sumo conversion and love the black frame/swinger/sub frame.

How'd the powder coating go? Just strip and send to them? Any idea on price for all that?
