Hi! Let me introduce my another project. So this is my former race MX bike I loved very much Yamaha YZ450F 2011. My customer likes enormously large rear wheels so the only way I thought was to use some parts from Aprilia. You can see swingarm, shocks, wheels, front forks and front brakes. It needs new DIY rod to connect Yamaha frame with Aprilia swingarm.

I think no. The shape of the left beam of swingarm does not give possibility to centralize it because of chain. So the only way to use aprilia swingarm is to cut off a part of its right mount. And swingarm accordingly moves to the right. But that is not enough, you must put additional 2 mm custom washer under the front sprocket to move chain to the left. This only way 5 mm space between chain and rubber can be reached. I have not any experience in supermoto riding or racing but the behavior of the bike seems OK for me. I was trying to find any difference in turns to the right and to the left but for me there is no difference. What is more the triples are OEM YZ with 22 mm offset. And SXV triples have 24 mm if I remember correct. I was wondering why there is so much? I do not feel any inconvenience while riding. But the feel on my YZ450f 2004 with 13 mm offset I like better.

More offset reduces trail and quickens steering , but can reduce stability , less offset increases trail and slows steering , but increases stability. It's all dependent on rake , also. Google ''rake and trail'' for a more detailed explanation and images.

What's the fork offset on the Aprilia forks vs other forks? Total offset is more important than triple clamp offset.

More triple clamp offset generally means more frame clearance.

Thanks all of you for opinions. Actually I work a lot on MX suspension and know about influence of offset on bike stability. But in reality it involves a whole bunch of other factors such as wheel base, race sag, spring rates (height in moving), valve adjustments and so on. It is common thing for me do not get expected result from triple offset changing. So the only way I mean is to try. I just was wondered that YZ works acceptable on 13 mm offset and on 25 mm offset. But for instance CRF do not. I was throwing on my friends CRF250F 2012 a pair of 17' wheels without triples changing and it was almost unrideable. Very shaky.
What about this bike I have not possibility to make measurements because the customer lives not in my town and have converted it into MXer again. So in reality this is just a couple of photos and pleasant memories for me.
I have almost new engine of XT660X and I am thinking about what to do with it. May be another ultimate project with 140 kg weight, MX fairing, Ohlins legs, FCR carb (I really hate injector because of reliability lack), acerbis seat, custom welded aluminium tank, bling parts and so on. Will see.
