I just installed a 4.25 Perelli Supercorsa Dragon tire on an axcel rim with stock XR400 hubs on my 2001 XR650L. I am getting a tire rub on the upper chain cover bracket. There is a L shaped aluminum bracket that is welded to the underside of the swing arm with the other end holding the upper plastic chain guard. Do I need this guard or should I cut and reweld this bracket so I get enough clearance?

Thanks!

Having a little trouble understanding the issue. The guard on the bottom of the swing arm is to keep the chain from jumping off the sprocket. The guard on top is to keep the chain from laying on the top of the swing arm and cutting it like a chain saw. Take a pic.
