ok, so i got a 2001 wr426 supermoto yesterday, got my first drive of it today. after a few videos watching the cold startup i gave it a go and after a few tries got her turning over. so after a while she cuts out. the warm startup video said to use the red choke and start as normal, but on my bike the red choke doesnt stay out, it goes back in. i could start the bike from warm without either choke so its probably not a problem, just wondering though, should the red choke stay out?

cheers

red knob

I use the choke when cold. But after the bike is warmed up NO choke and NO red knob. I think I did use the Red knob once, when the bike got laid over while riding some single track, wouldnt start right away, use the red knob and fired right up.

once bike was hot i didnt need either choke to start it.

but when your using the hot choke your meant to just hold it out while you kick? just curious, probably wont need it anyways.

cheers

When you pull out the hot start it should stay out untill you push it back in. It lets additional oxygen into your carb while its pulled out.
