Wr250x noises?

Hey guys

This might seem like a silly post to some of you, but I figured I might as well ask. My wr250x is coming up on a thousand miles, had it's break in oil changed, and been on a 300 mile road trip. Even now I'm still getting used to the bike. It is my first bike, and because of that I'm not used to all the little noises that motorcycles make.

So, a question. At higher revs, over wind noise I can hear a high pitched "whirring" drone, that sounds like a pump or something. It might be completely normal, but I'm just making sure it's not a bad bearing or something. What do you guys think? Do your bikes have this noise? Or others? Thanks!!

its a high revving 250 4 stroke. the cams chains and valves make all the noise i rode mine with a mx helmet and thought it was going to blow but its is normal as long as you broke it in right, but some people ride the piss outa there's bran new and just do their own brake in procedure. street helmet its pretty quiet except when you buy a power core 4 then you wont really hear too much engine noise. mostly muffler
Does the noise vary with RPM or speed? Is it gear dependent?

I remember when i started riding that I was amazed at how mechanically noisy motorcycles are. I loved it from day one.
The engine is smooth, and loud. I put an HMF comp pipe on mine and don't hear the engine any more- at all.
250X is my first bike too. And, yes, when I first started riding it, I was pretty alarmed at all of the noise at high revs. Kinda sounded like it was going to fall apart. After 13,000 miles she's still noisy, but she runs great. Don't stress. Sometimes I think about a KTM or a 450F or something, but I always end up sticking with the X because it is so pain-free. Just lube your chain and change your oil every 2 to 3K miles.
Do you guys wear ear plugs?

I have since I started riding street almost 30 years ago. I don't like to hear the wind and mechanical ruckus. I think it is easier to concentrate on speed when some of the racket is filtered out. I think it is still pretty loud even with plugs. My left ear rings regularly from long ago unprotected rifle fire and also long term industrial noise exposure. Not fun. I should have worn plugs more often.
I think I will start wearing them, the new HMF pipe is stupid loud-sounds good but it gets tedious. I wear them often at work, and even mowing the lawn.

I wear them for longer rides and I know I should wear them for the shorter ones too. My hearing has really suffered and I'm starting to take hearing-protection more seriously.
