Man I am jealous of you guys who do not need cars. I put about 2-3000 miles on my car and most of time it was going to and from the track. I live in NY so it gets real cold in the winter, I don't have to drive though since I live in NYC, having a car here is like death! It just plain old sucks unless you want to pay 450 a month for parking. I did do 10,000 on my bike this year so I am still riding my bike more which is good but damn do I hate the winter!! :2hard
I agree with Jolly, I live in Vegas and it get's to about a Bazzzillion degree's in the summer, (It gets so hot the roads melt, and when you stop at lights your foot leaves an indentation) SOOOOO AC in a car is good. Hot engine under your Nads!! Not so good.
I have been without car for about 7 years.
Live in Philly and used to walk to work, now I ride my BMW R11S to work everyday! When the snow and ice do me in, I can take the train....

I have a car I share with my wife. The only time I drive it is when my KTM is being serviced(every other month) for a few days. That yammy looks nice with all the aftermarket bolt-ons. wheels are sharp looking too.

Pretty impressive, I always tell myself I don't need a car but I just can't part with it. So how do you like the BMW for an everyday bike?
The BMW has never left me stranded, but there are some issues with the oil head design.

The big issue is oil consumption. The engines are known for this, and mine is within spec, but sometimes it uses so much that it feels like I am riding a 2stroke!

2nd, the final drive seal leaks. Had it repaired under warranty umpteen times but they probably just filled it with oil...eventually I am going to do it myself the right way.

3rd, not crazy about the plastic build quality, and almost all of the fasteners are blackened steel - not stainless, you would think with a BMW that they would spend the extra $50, but no....

What I like, is the fairing - I have Wudo screen on, with raised bars, and I love the locking saddlebags, this makes going to work a pleasure - did I also mention that in my city you can pull up on alley street sidewalks and park for free?! Take that cagers!

BTW BMW has a new generation boxer engine out now, and the final drive is supposedly sealed for life. I am waiting to see what the new S model will look like...

That is the new Yamaha version of my MZ with some valvetrain changes.... I think it looks really cool.... I saw two together on a drizzling afternoon in Seattle 3-4 months ago both had passengers.....I have never seen them in a showroom or any other time on the street....never saw this pair again...... I didn't even know they were here.......the front headlight and duals are unmistakable I'm positive they were as pictured above..........
My main mode of transport is a bike (and my commute is 86miles per day), I also have a truck to get the race bikes to the track:
If that honda were available here, I would certainly condsider it as a commuter, untill then I will keep riding the TL1000S
hrhhrhhr. :Funny: :Funny: :Funny: :Funny: :Funny: :laughingr :laughingr :laughingr :2hard

I've never owned a car but I think one is overdue.

Here's my ride
Just compare it to what other options they have in Spain. (I dont have a clue what those are..) but a comfy, CHEAP (key word here) and reliable bike cant be too bad. If it aint cheap, it will follow the path of the Dominator. The Euro bikes are just too good..

I saw an XT660X at the KTM shop where I bought my 640 SuperMoto today. I just cant get past the goofy radiator guard, and the street-ish underside headers. Dont you have to at least pretend you will go off-road with an SM? Those would be mashed instantly..
Hi,
I'm from Germany and I'm 18 years old. I'm sorry for mistakes but my english is far away from being perfect. The Honda FMX came on the market this year in europe. I think that Honda builds such a bike because germany is a country, where the average biker is 50years old an drives a BMW or Honda PanEuropean or something else that weights more than 200kg an has more than 1000ccm. There is just a small market for supermotos and this market is absolutely dominated by KTM's LC4. The people don't want to have a race bike, that is small an light-weight. They want just a bike that looks like a supermoto, that can be picked up on sunday afternoon, to ride 2 hours on the street an then can be put back to the garage until next sunday. They don't want to care about how much time you have till you must do the next service on it, that will cost you much money or much time in the garage or both.
So the Honda have to build a bike that is durable (don't know if it's the right word)and cheap for being interesting.
Someone who want to have a racy bike will buy an EXC or WR.
I could imagine that it is similar in some other european countrys.

BTW that is a Honda PanEuropean. I don't know if such bikes are driven in USA, too.

I personally like racy supermotos more than big ones and I would wish that in germany, bikes like the XR650R would be sold like in the US. So don't cry of having no FMX sold in the US. The bikes, that are sold at your dealers are much more interesting.

They are called STs over here and are very popular.

Yep - the FMX is pretty shitty - but it's not as bad as a CBR or that even gayer-looking MPV thing we make. Just go and convert yourself an XR650, kids.
