Hi all,

I just did my first Mini Moto racing weekend last week, sharing a buddy's TTR 125 and I'm hooked! So now I'm on the hunt for a mini bike of my own. I really liked the TTR 125, but the SSR/YCF Chinese bikes are very attractively priced. I'd love to get some opinions, or other options. I'd like to stay in the same class as my buddy

I'm also looking for input from anyone who has experience with the TTR 125 - searching seems to imply i can start with a small wheel one and just need the swingarm from the L in order to fit 17s. I'd swap the front end for YZ85 forks/triples anyway so the front drum doesn't matter. Are there any other pitfalls of starting with the small wheel?

These are the rules for the class I'm trying to enter:
Formula 125
Formula class for smaller-displacement minis with open chassis and engine
modifications. This is for 125cc four-stroke motorcycles with disc brakes and smaller
two-stroke motorcycles.

Unlimited engine and chassis modifications except as noted.
• Engine displacement limits:
◦ 4-stroke air-cooled: 125cc max
◦ 4-stroke water cooled: 75cc max
◦ 2-stroke air-cooled: 70cc max
◦ 2-stroke water cooled: 50cc max

Thanks in advance!

Just to document it, the one shortcoming of the non L bikes (small wheel) is the shock. On small wheel bikes it's a standard non-serviceable, non adjustable shock. The Ls get a remote resi and rebound adjustment.
