My Dunlop Sportmax 120/70/17 edges touch my forks on either side a bit. Is this tire known for being a bit wider? My buddy's 120/70 michelen on his KTM seemed thinner, but i couldn't get my crappy micrometer on there well enough to tell for sure...

My bike is a 2004 Husky TC450, which has the same triples as the SMR, so it should have the clearance for a street tire.

Different brands of tires, even in the same size, have different profiles. I think Motostrano's tire pages give some guidance about some tires being wider or narrower than others.

Your option now is probably to shave the edge of the tire.

I dont have my fork guards on, but no, even when I held them in place, the tire would only just rub the inside of the fork if it was compressed (braking)
