this may or may not work.

but if it does then this is one of my race bikes, got two identical KTM450SX's.

these may be replaced with '05 smr's but its gonna take a sweet offer to make me part with these bikes.

the list of whats done is:

450sx with 6spd box
tuned motor giving 54bhp right up to 11krpm  more to come hopefully.
std suspension revalved and sprung for the riders, also anodised black fork legs and titanium nitrided stanchions and new one off rear shock chamber, i'm told this gives better transition from dirt to tarmac sections.
SFB cases
STM slipper clutches
ISR 6 pot brakes and radial master cylinder.
DOMA full system( better than the akro in my opinion)
Vortex ignition.
one-off team graphics for my team done in black cos no-one has a black KTM over here that i've seen anyway ;)
GPR damper
KTM 18mm offset yokes(triple clamps;))
usual talon and excel wheel set
and thats about it i think.

right lets see if this things attaches

good lookin KTboooM.
I wish I did not have such a bad run with my 520 or I would buy another one ..

the thing i've found with Kaboom's is that you need to build the engine by hand for it to last.

dont ask me why but every hand built engine i've done has lasted way longer than a new engine out of the dealer on a new bike :headscrat

one of those 450's of mine has done a years hard racing, it lost power etc but it didn't go bang, it was just very worn out and should have been refreshed a while back but it was still going well, and the rider was getting quicker and quicker on it so we didnt question it untill i ran it on the dyno and saw that the over run had vanished.

fresh engine and its back to where it was and the thing will pull 115mph on 14/44 gearing.

shame you had a bad experience with KTM cos no matter what happens to mine and what other manufacturers i try i always end up back at KTM's so now i embrace my fate and accept that KTM's are here to stay for me:)

well i'd never be so blatant or rude as to come onto a site and start plugging what i do for a living now ya see, not within the first 20 posts anyway ;)

however...

since you mentioned it well if you feel that way inclined then who am i to diswade you otherwise  DHL are pretty cheap and quick from your neck of the woods over to me, got stuff coming over al the time from San diego and DHL are shit hot as far as i'm concerned.

nah seriously, i'm not the first person i've heard say that about kaboom motors, and none of us know why, we just know that hand built ones built properly do tend to last longer and run quieter.

you guys must have KTM specialists over there surely?

if not then i can see a working holiday coming up soon :D :D :D :D

Nice bikes X81, Veggie says you are the tuning god! i have a smelly old 2 stroke im afraid, money, house etc etc. May get a "race" bike end of next year, the CRF's seem to be very popular. I watched the AMA sm last night and the 525's went well...very trick, 16.5 fronts and 5.5 rears. Whats your view on the CRF's etc against the KTM's....im asking your opinion not trying to cause a huge arguement on this forum :)

glad you like the bikes:)

CRF's are good bikes, i just wanted to go away from what everyone else was buying which was why i bought the KTM's but the Honda's are good bikes and in the right hands a very capable bike.

It's also got that Honda reliability thing which can't be discounted as a reason for purchasing a type of bike over another type.

i'm biased towrds KTM as may be obvious but i can't deny that they need tuning to get them going quite well, the Honda doesn't need as much tuning.

however our KTM450's in the right hands have beaten tuned CRF's that i have run on my dyno and know are making more power then our KTM's so that kind of messes things up nicely for ya there;)

buy what you want to buy and suits your needs best, test ride them both if you can and see which bike you prefer, they have very differnt riding positions from what i can gather so that in it's self may make you decision for you.

As usual i've been as helpfull as a kick in the teeth;)

i saw these bikes for real at blyton at the last round of nora and there very nice and pretty trick to. (I'm ***** off visordown btw X81 ;) )

Anyway i think the combonation of the fact X81 has 2 good riders on a well prepped/quick bike makes it a good combination. I don't think which bike matters so much as to who's twisting the throttle thats for sure.

Yeah you are right middy, you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear etc. I was just interested in X81's opinion as he knows 100% more then me about engines etc, it is good to get an honest opinion rather than some CRF/KTM nut who always says their bike is the best/fastest.....im Bully1970 off visordown, i am trying to get info about a cr5 i have just bought, bloody house......cant afford a nice crf/ktm/husky/ etc. The stinkwheels will do until this time next year when i hope to have a 2nd hand crf and i may try and race (z group!!) in France as its closer to me than UK. Only a couple of rounds if poss as i am too unfit and old to be competative, would just like that feeling again of hammering into the first corner surrounded by headcases.

I take it you must live in Jersey then? if so i'd come and race the brits anyway those frenchies have the jump on evryone as far as motards concerned (they've always done it!) i'd say there the best at it in the world.

Bugger, it is cheaper to get to France...they would be better wouldnt they! Im not sure it matters as i probably wont even qualify for any groups just want to give it a go, meet a few people and drool over their bikes...plus its a weekend or so away "biking" no drinking involved at all, very serious all these racers, water only all weekend  honestly!! Im not 100% if i will be able to do it as im having a back op in January, if all goes well and i recover, get fit and get some money...it may happen. Yeah im in Jersey...no tracks..streetmoto only..well one mx track, and a tarmac hillclimb which i must admit is good, but hanging around all day to get 6x1 minute runs is frustrating. Ah well, living on an island can be a pain, but UK and France fairly close by so i will try to travel a bit more.
Cheers

John
