Is it a big difference to block the SAS things?

"Some don't like the idea of another electronic thing that can choke your bike leading to stalling issues/inoperability. Also, some FI maps may not even sense it hence there's no point for it (I'm not 100% sure on which ones). Lastly, if you change the exhaust and no longer have a catalytic convertor - you don't need an SAS."

Quoted from ADVrider

Taken from the ktm950 website.

"Don't do like many folks do and confuse the Evaporative Canister with the Supplemental Air System (SLS). They are two seperate, non-interconnected emissions systems. The SLS (AKA SAS) is a passive system that allows fresh air into the exhaust manifold downstream of but near the exhaust valve. It raises the oxygen percentage of the exhaust gas and aids the Catalytic Converter (CAT) in reducing NOX ( nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) ) emissions to the atmosphere. Removing or disabling it has little immediate effect one way or the other on engine running or performance. Albeit, it does reduce one source of vacuum leaks over time. It does, however, reduce the CAT's effectiveness at reducing NOX, and over time will cause them to fail prematurely. It is ill advised to remove/disable the SLS without removing the CATs or installing aftermarket non-CAT exhaust cans, as the gains are minimal. Especially on the FI equiped bikes."

several reasons for sas/canister removal. ditched mine since I no longer have the cat, tired of looking at the black canister and its just less crap on the bike. whether it helps the motor some or keeps it the same i just plain dont need/want it on there

My 690 SMC

Well I should have posted this a year ago but I really never got around to it. It's going into the for sale section shortly......moving to a distance bike. Most fun I've had on a motorcycle:thumbup:

Orange levers

You should be able to find an orange clutch lever for a KTM dirtbike. Just make sure it is made for a Magura clutch (or does the SMCr have Brembo?) As for the front brake lever, you can use a Ducati monster lever. There are orange ones on eBay. The rear brake lever that I got that is black with an orange tip is made by Hammerhead.
Hope that helps. Let's see your bike!

Hey man, do you work at TJ's in Austin? I was in there in December (from San Antonio) and noticed your bike in the front lot.

I was in for some oil and grips before you guys shut down for the night. The KTM dealer in SA is a raging lunatic.

I might stop by next weekend, I'll be up for a day and I need some more oil. Can't keep the miles off... Your bike looks good!

Yes sir I do. I'm the Parts Manager there. I'll be there all day, just ask for Mike when you get there and thanks.

I was not aware there was a KTM dealer in SA. Which dealership is it?

Yeah, Powerhouse Cycles. It was in Bulverde, but just moved down to an even smaller place closer to town. Not sure how long they'll survive. The guy who owns it is clueless. He's a know it all, talks over you, won't let you say much, etc... Not a pleasant experience. Wish there were a place like TJ's down here.

Yeah I hate people like that, there just don't know how to work in this industry.

TJ's Cycle is an awesome place, been in business for almost 30 years and still family owned and operated.
