So I just spent the last few weeks trying to get information about my bike (2004 625smc) and almost every piece of information is hidden. Lost of questions were all over different forums about part compatibility and answers were all over the place. So I did some research and started a new site just for the 625smc:

http://625smc.com

The main part of the site is a wiki where any registered user can edit the pages. Some pages are still blank, but will be filled in soon by myself, or users with some knowledge they are willing to share. Some highlights that answer frequent posts at multiple forums:

http://625smc.com/wiki/2004-2006-625SMC-Differences

http://625smc.com/wiki/Oil-change

http://625smc.com/wiki/Cross_Reference

whew...working my arse off here, hoping for some comments and maybe some contributors so we can have a quasi-shop manual going.

PS - I hope I'm not breaking forum rules with this post. Some Nazi moderators at other forums won't allow outside links to information if the site owner posts them.

There is a ton of information right here on SMJ for the 625 SMC, but I'm all for spreading the info, and I love twiki's. If someone is enterprising enough they could consolidate the wealth of info on SMJ over there, but it won't be me. I'm way too lazy for that.

nice work.. how bout a gallery!

maybe model years, then custom bikes?

That's the nice part about a wiki. Everything is already there, you just have to fill in the page. You create a new page by just going to:

http://625smc.com/wiki/(new page name) without the parenthesis.

Then click edit. Make a link to it on another page, or post that you need a new link put up in the sidebar in the forum and it's up.

Agreed. It's all here and the really technical stuff is at ktmtalk. A search would fill in all the blanks for that site, but I just don't have the time... Good idea, though, and good luck! Makes me want one of my SMCs back! :(

I just got frustrated with posts that would begin an argument about what parts fit and what don't. Lots of misinformation mixed in with the good stuff. Great info here and KTM talk, it's just spread out. I will add info as I find it and do various maintenance, if others want to contribute, great! If they want to just read info, that's cool. And if they don't care at all, that's the Internet for you. At the very least, it keeps info straight for me.
