I'm no expert but for SM use, I would go with the Supercross option as that will give you the stiffest spring rate. Forks sprung for Desert/Enduro stuff would be way too soft for real SM use. Even SX spring rates would be too soft for SM racing...
here is some help , hope this works , see you next ride . http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=661647&highlight=sm+fork+springs http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=656784&highlight=sm+fork+springs http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=653328&highlight=sm+fork+springsI have an S converted to SM and the front is way too soft, expecially when compared to my buddies factory SM. I have ridden it this way for over a year now, but the harder I push it on the twisties, the more I realize I need to do something about the front end.
I have decided that it is time to break down and order a set of springs so I went to Racetech's website and used their spring calculator, but in their list of riding types in the spring rate calculator, they do not list supermoto. I figured the "Desert/Enduro/Trail" option was probably the closest to SM, but wanted to get some input before I order some springs.
I'm 6'3" and weigh 195 without gear and have an oversized IMS tank. The calculator is telling me to use .50 springs. Does this sound correct to those of you in the know? I have never replaced (with aftermarket) fork springs in my 24 years of riding so this is a new thing to me.
I am about to DIY my suspension using Race Techs wicked tech support system. I would actually call them and talk to a tech direct. I find with emails it is alot of back and forth and sometimes you don't get the answer you are after.Yeah, I have already read those threads and in fact I posted my same question in the first one you linked. I spent an hour reading threads at thumpertalk before posting. Unfortunately, no direct answer to my question is there.
I gave up waiting and emailed RaceTech directly. Hopefully, I will get and answer from them soon. Thanks for trying.
