I replaced the Dunlop rear with a Contiforce SM as well. Still have the Dunlop front on there. Rear lasted 3700 miles. I now have 4900 and front is still going but getting close to time to replace. I also plan to replace the front with a Contiforce when the time comes. (wont be much longer)

Just curious why a nail made the rear tire unusable? I got 2 flats on my stock dunlop (a screw and a nail) about 500 miles apart and just replaced the tube and kept riding on it. I didn't have any problems aside from forgetting to remove that magnet that kept attracting metal objects to it, hehe. So did it totally shred the tire or was it just down the the cords anway?

Well, first of all the tires tread is a knats hair from being at the wear bar, with 2700 miles on it IIRC. With the cost of R&R'ing a tire being $30 around here I figured I'd just get a new tire and not waste the $30-$40 in labor to R&R and patch said tire only to have it last maybe 500 more miles if I'm lucky.

I don't hold much faith in patches or plugs on my bikes tires anyway.

I thought our bikes had a tubeless setup??

Nah man, most of the time spoke wheels = tubes, unless you convert to tubeless with a kit
