I was wondering why on the dualsport drz400's the gas tank is metal and on the offroad version it is plastic?
I dunno i would just rather have a plastic tank, do you know if a plastic tank from a drz400 will swap with a drz400sm?*V4* said:something about D.O.T & E.P.A rules of a street oriented or capable of street riding motorcycles must be with a metal tank....
ims fits on DRZ400s need to modify the seat bracket i think and you lose the fan(i replaced mine with two computer fans and a switch so i can run them whenever i want)afireinside84 said:I dunno i would just rather have a plastic tank, do you know if a plastic tank from a drz400 will swap with a drz400sm?

yep tank covers! cbr1000rr good example of just that...only crap thing is that you can't use a magnetic tank bag on it. Don't really matter much, since I got my 400sm in april...only rode that sportbike once...not real enjoyable either. SM !!!!!Astroman said:those are tank covers... tanks underthat are metal ones...
why yes it does! Interesting...must be an American clause thing? whatever. steel maybe heavier, but at least it won't deteriorate over time and succomb to the fuel vapor.vinnyl26 said:Harley V-Rod has a plastic tank??
if true, it would be only the least of that bikes flaws. damn that thing is ugly. :lol:vinnyl26 said:Harley V-Rod has a plastic tank??
What do you mean by that? Dirt bikes have plastic tanks and mine has never "succomb to the fuel vapor". Gas can are made of plastic and I don't think I have ever seen one leak because of deterioration.fivestar13 said:... but at least it won't deteriorate over time and succomb to the fuel vapor.
