this was my first time changing the oil on my '06 625 smc. it has about 2200 miles on it, i bought it used..

i followed creeper's oil change method. everything went smoothly...almost...until i decided to burp the frame oil by loosely threading the bolt and tightening it when i saw oil ooze out past the thread. i did this. i was surprised the oil didn't come out immediately...it took about 15-20 seconds after i started the bike. i let the oil ooze out past the loosely threaded bolt for about 10 seconds and then tightened it. then i let it run a little bit (2-3 minutes) so i can check the oil level once it was warmed up again...but then it just shut off...

when i tried to restart it, nothing happened. it'll start when i give it a little throttle and push the start button. as soon as i let go of the throttle to idle on its own, it shuts off again.

i tried turning the idle control knob (clockwise) and it still won't start. i also tried restarting with the hot start knob pulled out and nothing. it only seems to start when i give it some gas with the throttle. btw, the choke knob is pushed in.

does anyone know what might be the problem?

did i not burp it properly? could that be it?

please help!!

i didn't touch the fuel line at all. it's still in the "ON" position. i don't think any of the hoses are pinched. i started it to warm up the engine prior to starting the oil change. the bike was in a baxley front wheel stand. it ran just fine for the 5-10 minutes i had it running on idle before the oil change. i didn't move the bike at all. then i started the oil change. after burping, it shut off on it's own.

i've been messing around with the choke knob pulled out, pushed in, turning the idle control to the right and left.

now, the battery is on a tender since its just about dead from me trying to start it for so long..

i'll go out and check the hoses just in case.

any other ideas?

that's weird. it started again and is idling on its own now... thank god.

to start it up, i had the choke knob pulled out, hot start pushed in, and gave it just a little throttle. it started up..but it wanted to stop again when i started to ease off the throttle. i continued to give it a little throttle for about 30 seconds, then pushed the choke knob back in and adjusted the idle knob clockwise until i could let go of the throttle so it could idle on its own.

i let it run about 3 minutes and it seemed ok. hopefully there won't be an issue tomorrow....
