So, my petcock finally shit the bed. It's not terrible, but I'm trying to fix it before it gets worse. I'm going to order the Pingel petcock in a week or so.

In the meantime, is it safe to pick up an in-line fuel shutoff (from NAPA or the like), install it, and run the DRZ petcock on PRI? Obviously I'll have to shut the fuel line off when I'm not riding, but that won't be an issue. I always check my petcock anyway just to make sure I didn't leave it on PRI.

That should work as long as it's leak free.

I switched the stock SM out for a DRZ e model petcock.
Dirt model has an "OFF" position.

I like to shut the gas off and run the float bowl dry when I know It's going to sit for awhile.

Was it hard to install the E model petcock? Mine is leaking and looks as if the owner before just glued the thing together for a quick fix. I also have the Clarke 3.9 gallon tank so do you think that would be an issue?
