I don't believe it was all SMUSA's fault for the disorganization, but it was a nightmare. I think they should change the whole dirt section so that it will create some racing instead of people playing follow the leader through it. Either make the tabletop a small double, or make all whoops. That would seperate people and create more racing. They should also get rid of the stones at the beginning and the ends of the section. What is the purpose of those stones other than to chew up your tires or slide on when they end up on the pavement? Other than those complaints the day turned out to be good.

More (slightly larger) tracks please!!!

Good job to the SMUSA guys for keeping cool under fire, and getting the novice class final grid straightened out fairly and quickly.

How about Lembo Lake?

PS There was alittle confusion but nothing horrible. My only complaint was the whole watering of the dirt section. Getting rid of the dust is one thing but a mud hole and slicks is another there had to be 15 bikes down! Keep up the good work.

I think they should go to a one moto format. Everybody could get gridded for their race by timed practice. This would make the grids more fair. It would also prevent safety issues such as someone who would finish at the back of the pack holding up the faster guys and riding over their head. They would be gridded with people that are at their pace and be able to actually race instead of just trying to block from being passed. By going to a one moto format there would be more time for the timed practices and possibly longer races. Other than that I think Eric and his team do a great job and I think they try to do whats fair for everyones issues at the races.

I think this is an interesting idea. After all we do have the timing equipment (batteries not withstanding) to accomplish this. Might as well take advantage of it. It would make for more interesting racing if we could run 12 or 14 laps where some conditioning would come into play.

One Moto format

I don’t know what type of racing you guys have done in the past? Having a 2 race format helps to give riders that crashed, broke, taken-out, or just rode poorly have a chance to gain points. The other reason for the 2 moto format is to have a separation of abilities. You have rider that can go fast for a couple of laps and block you from passing, ever when you are trying your hardest on a small track it is sometime difficult. 2 moto format give you the reason to have endurance. Some guys can go for 10 laps but when they leave everything on the track for the first moto the 2nd they have nothing. Case in point I got beat bad this week my endurance is not were it needs to be so if I am going to race 2 moto's I need to start running and get my fat ass in shape. Leave the 2 race format the way it is, Eric and company have given us a lot of track time with the practices, heat races and finals you could put in 30 to 50 laps on any given weekend. The racing is expensive but if you go to a track day and spend $150 you probable would get around the same amount of track time. SMUSA has come a long way over the last 3 years and something’s need to be made better, but all in all they are still with us and trying to expand it hopefully OVRP will understand that Supermoto rider’s money is green just like the cart guy's.

I agree with motard640. I like the heat race/final format-at least for the novice class in which I race. I too am out of shape. I would never make it 10-12 laps. But I love those 5-6 lap blasts!

The premier class races much longer motos. That is always an option for those who are more competetive. For me- I just want a chance to practice backing her in with out worrying about SUV's and mini vans. If I happen to go fast as a result, I am happy about that too.

I didn't participate at OVRP this past weekend but SMUSA gets my

I don't think it is necessarily feasible just interesting. We should keep an open mind as I think we should try to get as close to what supermoto is in the US, er whatever that happens to be.

Being one that crashed out in the second race, I fully understand your point. Also, it wouldn't make too much sense as we don't have the timing equipment at Etown, or the next venue.
