So I figured seein as how it was another gorgeous day at 8600 ft that I would run up to the top of Indy pass(Hwy 82 in Colorado. The road was clean and mostly dry so I was hammerin along at a decent clip. Of course as you can see from the pic I was properly attired (Thats Sarcasm). About 3/4 of the way up (Just before Independence ghost town for those who know the road) I went into a tight left hander at about 35MPH only to feel the front let go as it washed out. Running Sumo style with my foot out may have helped but I dont think my foot ever touched down, Slid the front sideways a couple of feet and through force of will kept it up only to realise the armco was now in my path. I was able to avoid the armco with everything but my right foot and scuffed my shoe but didnt go down (In dont know how but I was able to save it) Thus the Big Ol Grin at the top.
Most definitely makes for an interesting ride.

Nothing feels better than a nice save. Glad you came out OK and the grin in the pic does say it all.

Scared the hell out of me when I realised what had just happened. The other side of the Armco was a fifteen foot drop to an Ice Cold River (With Lots O Rocks)

I did the same thing but in an intersection with traffic , making a right turn on a green. Felt like a doof , figure through a wide range of opinions it was cold tires. Atleast you didn't get hurt.

So when you nearly wreck and scare the piss out of yourself atop the continental divide, does the pee flow towards the pacific or atlantic? :hmmm:

At least you didnt marry yours... or have a kid with her. I did both. Its like starting all over from scratch at 31. Totally wasted my 20s on that b... At least I have ended up with my son. Its nice once you finally get past it and can look ahead instead of being so caught up in dealing with the present. Now if I could just figure out a way to get a SuMo I'll be in Heaven!!!
I take it thats a 426? I was tossed between that and the KX500 and went for the KX for the dunes. Now I live no where near the dunes and wish I wouldve went with the 426 so I could street legal SuMo it. I guess we cant all make the right choices in life!

Gdubb, Why not convert the KX?.I know I could get it street licensed (Noticed I didnt say Legal) in Colorado. Where do You live?

I live in Washington. West of the Puget Sound. We dont have any smog inspection or anything over here so I dont see why I wouldnt be able to convert it but I was wanting a 4stroke so I wouldnt have to premix. Plus the KX500 isnt really known for being very conservative with fuel. I have tossed the idea around but I am rather ignorant of the legalities of such conversions. I have been holding out for my credit to clear up a bit and finances to improve so I could try to finance something like the DRZSM or maybe the WRX although not to fond of it only being a 250. I sure would like to see the looks on peoples faces as this thing went flying past on the highway...

Its a '96 and runs like a top but it needs some work elsewhere like bearings, chain and sprocket, fork seals, rear brake pins and stuff. Oh and a couple of the welds on the pipe mounting tabs are cracked. It looks good though! :thumbup:

speaking of crazy through intersection (one of previous posters), anyone ever backed it in through an intersection scaring the crap out of everyone and getting some honks?
