How's everyone doing tonight? Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Columbus, Ohio and I'm looking to put a tard together by the spring so I can ride at CRP, and of course the usual neighborhood assault.

I was wondering if anyone had tips on getting started. New vs. used? 450SMR vs. CRF 450? Ideally I would like to find something already setup, but the market for that isn't too great in OH. I would trade C-bus for Cali in a minute.

Let me know what you think.

Unless you just really have a thing for Hondas and money really is not an issue. Then you'll be much better off buying a pre setup bike from Husqvarna or KTM. Hell some people have mentioned picking up 04 450smr from husky for around 6 grand or less.
Try to make a Honda for that. And if you want a larger displacement bike both of the above have bikes to make you happy.

Thank you for the tips on the husky. I've been looking at them online unfortunately there is only one dealer I could find in Ohio and they are in bfe. I'm worried about parts, availability, etc. Does anyone know have advice or experience with this matter, and what does an '05 450 smr run off hand?

I'd go to that dealer and go for a test ride first, but your can buy Husky's online.

KTM Dealer...

There is a KTM dealer over in Reynoldsburg called Wheel Sports (7959 East Main Street) 614-864-0010. I am not totally sure if they sell SM bikes but I figure they can point you in the right direction. Those guys have been in business for a while and just built a new building on top of their old one a few years ago. At one time I thought they were a Husky dealer. It will be good to add another bike to the hooligan bunch at CRP.

Hey thanks I actually called that dealership this afternoon they didn't have any SM bikes in stock. I called the Husky dealership up by Youngstown and he gave me a lot of helpful info. Do you know of anyone running a Husky at CRP. I was there in Oct. and it was mostly hondas, ktms, and yamahas.

Where else do you ride in Ohio? I'm wondering if there are any good parking lots to practice in.

I live just north of Cincinnati but grew up in Reynoldsburg. I usually ride northen kentucky but when I ride with my buddies in C-Bus we ride down around hocking hills, southeast ohio, west by golly virginia. I went to school at OU so I know that area pretty well. I just sent you a message. Let me know if you want to ride sometime. CRP is going to be a blast this spring/summer.
