Hey guys, looking at getting a supermoto (or conversion) in the next couple weeks.
I was into getting a WR450f since it has more power than some supermotos I was looking at like the DRZ400SM, SMR511 and XT660X. Id get one 2nd hand with motards etc but now I've heard for 450s, you should adjust valves every 16hrs, top end rebuild after 100hr and it obviously wouldn't be as good to handle as a true super moto. For anyone that's had a WR450f thats been converted, would you recommend it?
Would also like to know if you can stiffen up the suspension for road use, which is what I would do if I got one.
Cheers blokes

Welcome to your new addiction.

You are taking a dirt bike and making it different. YES, yes you can stiffen the suspension up via SM valving, proper spring rates and sags, you can just change springs and crank the comp up for the streets.. A true supermoto is one built to race not something you treet, that is more a look/style. No one is going to dump big $$ into building one just to street it as you are talking some big bucks to set one up right. As for topends, it all depends on how you ride it, the specs you spoke of are for racing as you are harder on it on the track than you are playing on the streets. The WR450 ha been a good bike to convert for people on the streets.

Good luck on your choice ad welcome to the addiction.
Awesome, thanks so much appreciate it 🤙🤙
