I just picked up a 06 yz450f. The bike has sm tires and wheels, a few diff gear sets, slip on pipe, and a few other things. I have ridden a bunch of mx as well as quad mx. I am planning on making it street legal so any help is appriciated. I dont plan on doing much night riding just some local stuff so it does not need a really great system so I am debating between swapping the stator or just getting a kit with the battery. Any recomendations? Also are there any meets in ny or the area?

Welcome aboard man, where in NY are you from?

Not sure you can make an offroad motorcycle legal in NY... but this would be the place to ask.

ahh nice, I am from Brewster but I work in Katonah.

Hopefully picking up a Husky this week or next week - if you figure out how to get this thing on the road we should meet up and go for a rip.

yea sounds good I dont see why it would be a problem just gotta put some lights on it. I think im going to just get the battery operated one so when I get to a track or ride some dirt I can just disconnect it quick. Does anyone from ny know what else is needed or if it can even be done?

Can be done, I did it on my Wr450f. Went to a custom bike shop that was a licensed manufacturer. Paid some money for paper work and my Yamaha became a "Custom motorcycle" Then registration was easy as hell.
