I just got back from the dealer. I was looking at the Husky SMR450 and I asked if they would set it up street legal before I picked it up. The guy said that it can't be done in Massachusetts. He said I would have to get a P.O. box in Vermont and register it there. He said MA is the hardest place to get them street legal and I'm not suprised. So, I was wondering if anyone has had experience doing that or something similar and how did it go and what was the process involved.

I live in North Carolina. A good friend of mine made his CRF street legal. He just used a South Carolina address. Once the process was completed for SC he transferred it over to NC. I imagine you could do the same thing up there. You have to pay to register it twice, but at least it is legit. Not to mention, tons of fun

I was just checking the VT DMV site and it said: "Resident" is any legal resident of this state and any person who accepts employment or engages in a trade, profession or occupation in this state for a period of at least six months (except a person who lives in another state and who returns to that state on a regular basis ---not less than weekly). Also any foreign partnership, firm, association or corporation having a place of business in this state is considered to be a resident with regard to all vehicles owned or leased and which are garaged or maintained in this state.id

How does a P.O. box get you past this?

Would it be a better idea to purchase the bike in VT, have them plate it there then take it back to MA? This is all confusing to me...
