How do you remove the spring from the DRZ shock? I'm only familiar w/ KTM stuff, where you run the adjusters up, make spring slack, and the bottom retainer slides off to the side.

This DRZ shock doesn't have a slotted retainer, so obviously it comes off the bottom, though there's a few screws, set screw, etc. I was afraid to just turn the bottom off, not knowing if I'd kill the clicker or something....

Thanks for any help

i would assume it is like most jap shocks, just measure you distance from the top threads to the retrainer ring(preload)... then loosen them ... at some point the spring will start to have play in it.then just slip out the bottom retainer, thats how my rmz and kx were. but DONT try and spin off the bottom!!

or use a spring compressor...

As stated, I've already done all that. I don't see how the retainer comes off w/o getting the bottom mount off....

slack off the spring, push up the bottom spring seat theres a snap ring underneath it, pop that off and the spring and seat slides off
