A friend just e-mailed me these picts..........

A picture is worth a thousand words.

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction
time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police
estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h before the bike hit the slow moving car
side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the
rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't
sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two
passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The
Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10
feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (two in car
and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed
at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety
Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had
only recently obtained his license.

What makes this even more tragic is the fact that there is one less RC30 now :(
:hmmm: :headshake :headshake :headshake

It would have been tragic if the bike was run over by a paving machine or so ... the loss of life and the stupidity of the Bike's rider are far outweighing that.

Absolute top speed on Swedish highways, is 110 km/h (~67 m/h)
Absolute top speed, on other roads, is 90 km/h (~55 m/h)

So the bike rider absolutely asked for it and got served plenty.
Too bad he didn't run into a cement truck or so ...

I am not opposed to going fast in car or bike ... in fact I love going way over 250km/h on the Autobahn ... but it is allowed to go that fast there and there are NO intersections.

250 Kmh's is 150 mph's...or for every 60 seconds he is travelling 2.5 miles.....when you think about it its really mind boggling what goes through the mind..... a friend of mine was going slow down a street (looking for parking) and out from a alley this two up bike comes rippin hits the front of his MGB and spins it 180 degrees... the two on the bike got some road rash and bruises........wow.......

For me, this is another argument as to why supermotos are so great. A big part of me has always wanted a sport bike, and I'm sure always will. But it's just too easy to go fast, and responsible or not, I think everyone will at some point or another find themselves pinning the throttle open for a thrill. This is even true on a supermoto, the consequences are just compounded at higher speeds. I love my bike because, for me, it is huge fun at any speed and most of my riding is done at under 60 mph, whereas a sport bike would always be beckoning me to go faster...

200 kph on an 85cc dirt track bike??? :hammer:

The 80cc road racers were maybe going that fast ... where are the straights that'll allow you to accelerate that long on a dirt track?

Excuse me if that sounds ignorant, but I've seen too much BS about Power and Speed to just believe this bit ...

I couldn't agree more. I have a CRF 450 and an SDG mini, both set up for the track. I do mini road races and supermoto. I also have a 2001 CBR600F4i. My street bike only has 6000 miles on it. Why? because I like to go toooooo fast, so I do most of my riding on the track. I like the sport bike, but it is way too easy to get into trouble. I mainly keep it for cruises w/the wife. Also, I dont feel like selling it for less than half of what I paid. Just my 2 cents.

Share this sentiment. Fine waste of a beautiful machine. Greater waste of life for sure. :headshake

Dawggone squids ruin our reputation and image with the cagers and gen. public. Riders like that guy are bane of our existence. Yeah, we all gotta start somewhere, but it ain't in some other motorist's front seat :infrandom!!!

Those pics are the reason I got a streetard. I still have a sportbike, but I dont see it getting much action now that I have a supermoto. All my fun is done under 60mph. Not that hitting a car at 60 would feel good, but a better reaction time and better handling bike might just keep me alive.
