Circleville Raceway Park near Columbus, Ohio will host Supermoto racing this Friday Sept. 10 beginning at 4:30 pm.

I heard the turnout was a little slim for their first round. Anyone hear different for this event? Track phone doesn't have news about this week yet.

Wow, that was fun. No wonder you retards like racing motards. :laughingr Yes, after all this time, I actually took a bike and competed. Now, I suck, mind you, but it was great to go out and try sliding, and gettin loose on a bike again. It's been way too long since I've just gone ape riding a bike. I gotta get me out more often. :bringiton There is one more race at CRP next month. I hate to drive all the way to Cuddleback, wish there were more SMUSA at Beaver yet this year.

Anybody know landowners in my part of the world?? We need a playground. :infrandom

ANyone how didnt make it out today you missed a really nice day of racing. The crowd was kinda small but we had a great time anyways.I got to meet sumo bill today.I finished 2nd in the 250 sportsman class (i had NOTHING for the winner lol) & i got 4th in the main on my TTR.That doesnt sound that great but i did it with NO front brakes!! My rotor rubbed a hole in my front brake line just before the 1st heat so i rode 2 heats & a main with just my rear drum brake & still got 4th.

THey said it will be more organized & there will be a 10 race series for next year.

10/10 sumo at circleville

I'm hooked.this supermoto thing is prolly the most fun I have ever had on two wheels.First off I want to give a big thanks to Jimmy D for loaning me his spare wheels, without the wheels I doubt that I would have had nearly as much fun.thanks also goes to Dave,Pam,Greg G,Greg B,Kirby,Jim,Ray and Rays brother(I'm terrible with names).I was a little concerned that I was going to the race solo but as it turned out I had the biggest pit crew /cheering section at the race! The track and weather couldnt have been better and simply hanging out in the pits was a real blast, everyone was real friendly and helpful often giving setup and riding advice right up to the start(and I really needed the help!)My bike ran great and I never even got close to the grip the tires had to offer. By the main event I was finally able to figure out to ride the thing.I could tell that the brakes are going to need alot of work as they were useless after the 3rd or fourth lap(we don't need no stinkin brakes)and only got worse as i started picking up the pace later in the day.As far as gearing goes,I really overestimated the speeds I would be going and I set the gearing way too tall, live and learn.
In the main event I finished a distant .......last(Ok I got 5th out of 6 riders,I think I scared the other guy off )but the track seemed to get shorter and shorter as the day went on so i must have been going a little faster. In fact somehow some of the straights seemed to disappear altogether good times indeed.Next year they are planning 10 friday night races so i guess i better get working on my riding skills now......when is the next practice?

saturday practice at CRP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

saturday had to be the all time best value in 2 wheel motorsports!15 bones and we had the track to ourselves from 11(ish) to around 3:00 when a couple of guys with a modified cobra 65 to race the next day with the YSR folks.I had an absolute blast,in fact I could barely walk that night.Seth left shortly after Jimmy D and I decided to keep going as long as I had daylight!turns out the little cobra was screaming fast! The younger guy could rail that thing around the track within 3-4 seconds of my pace!thanks for the pointers on my riding, and for getting my sorry a** up there.
seth has already been in and it looks like at least 1 of his buddies is looking to set up his bike for sumo, this thing is spreading quick!John and Glen from the shop were up there on sunday with thier XR100 and they seem to be hooked too...

I will be keeping an eye on the weather and hope to get up there at least one more time this year.

BTW;Hats off to Jimmy D,one of his many 'Irons' is as a race school instructer with fasttrax and not only was he willing to follow my slow a** around the track and give pointers ,but he spent quite a bit of time with a friend of mine ,Seth who had very limited track time and had only purchased his 640lc4 a few days before.thanks Jimmy D(Thom Phulery says hi)

Salutations to Thom. and thanks for the ups, Buff. I was just having fun, and you know I don't have anything new to show you.
:Funny: dont believe that folks,I was little more than a rolling speedbump for Jim most of the day and I am always looking for advice on how to slam the mighty YZ around the track. With my offroad background and Jimmys superbike skills we should be able to work out something....

Yo, Jimmy D!!

How did ya do the last Circleville race? I had to miss that one due to VIR, but I heard it was pretty decent.

What do you know about this race being held by Cleveland/Akron Honda? I guess it is November 6th??

Give me some details, brotha!

I believe there is a thread about that Lorain event here also, but here ya go.

Lorain County Speedway is hosting an "Outlaw" style MX event on Sat. Nov. 6th. They said any license will qualify, but they'll use predominantly CRA rules and classes. During the day, while MX races are happening, KTM and the local dealers are giving free test rides of their SMR (i think) series bikes, on the paved kart/oval portion of the speedway. Any paying spectator is welcome to test ride a bike, they encourage bringing your own gear.

A couple of us are going to try to make it up for that, have to see how the Fasttrax banquet goes the night before. :headshake :drunk: :hammer:

I never made it to the last race there. There was an endurance race the day before, at Nelson, and I co-rode a badass RC51 in that. I didn't feel energetic enough the next morning to wrestle a supermoto, so I sat out. Didn't want to try too hard to crash my brains out.
