When I picked up my KTM 690, the seller sounded like he was on top of all issues clutch related. The slave cylinder had already failed and been replaced with a new improved unit. He also said he used mineral oil from a hardware store because it was cheaper than magura blood and works the same.
Well I notice the clutch was kinda stiff pulling in, and it didn't spring back as fast as I would have liked. If I let go fast, the cylinder took a half second to return to the lever. I picked up a clutch bleeding kit which included some genuine red magura blood. Wow, what an improvement. Now it's the clutch of my dreams, quick, precise and low effort, only 1 finger needed.
the old stuff I took out was clean and clear, but thicker than the Magura blood.
I saw here and there that Magura blood is blue. Is that a different type?
So, I guess this is just an endorsement for the real magura blood for those who feel the need to cheap out with generic mineral oil. I see a few discussions on this but welcome comments on the subject.
