Well I thought I would start a post regarding the options we have being WR250X owners. There isn't to much out on the market, and I have been looking for some SS brake lines and couldn't find much so I dug deaper and this is what I came up with:
Front of the bike: I used a yamaha online Micro-Fiche parts search to cross refrence part numbers. A 2006 WR250F and a 2008 WR250X use the same stlye banjo Bolt going from the master cylinder to the caliper. (part number# 90401-10172-00 ) I cross refrenced the Brake line itself and it IS a diffrent part number. I am not 100%, but I belive this is just a small diffrence in overall length between the too, either from ride hieght or caliper position slightly diffrent. :headscrat I am thinking about giving this a try.....
Front brake pads: I have yet to come across any brake pad availible for the 250X, probably due to its large brake rotor. If anyone has any input on this please post it up
Now lets move to the back...... Brake pads: The rear brake pads for a 2006 WR250F is the same as a 2008 WR250X. (part # 1C3-W0046-B0-00) This leaves the door open for a few options on brake pads since there is a large selection for the WR250F.
Brake Lines: The rear has the same dilema as the front. same Banjo bolt on a 2006 WR250F as a 2008 WR250X BUT the brake lines are diffrent if you look at a Picture between the 2 brake lines in a micro-fiche diaghram. The WR250X has 3 bends in it to keep it tucked up against the brake caliper, unlike the WR250F which goes straight back to the caliper. :headscrat not sure how that would work trying to use a diffrent brake line without those bends.
Here is a list of a few other brake upgrades/modifications that can be done:
Brake pedal saver: MSR Racing, Tucker Racing (universal)
Rear master cylinder cover: Zeta (red or blue)
Front master cylinder cover: Zeta (red or blue)
Rear brake clevis: Zeta (highly rigid and light weight design, provides for better control of the rear brake)
Ride Engineering banjo Bolts ( 60% lighter than stock anodized aluminium)
Brake Fluid: Dot 4 or higher. possible DOT 5
. I know this could be a whole other post in its own, but I thought it was worth bringing up. DOT 5 is great at dealing with Heat and brake fade. It also does not attract moisture like normal brake fluid. Cons: DOT 5 can airate if not let to settle, and it does not accept or disurse moisture which means it needs to be changed more often to help control corrosion.
If anyone has any input post it up!! havn't look to much into brake rotors, anyone know of upgrades? Now I KNOW you can upgrade to a big ass caliper and rotor but that can get expensive and sometimes not practical for daily driven street bikes even know it would be sweet
