I checked my SM510R's valves today at 1000 miles and all my valves were loose.
Ehaust were .223 on both sides. Spec is .15-.20
Intake were .178 and .203. Spec is .10-.15
Valves normally tighten up right?
What would cause them to be loose?
Did they come to the factory loose with the expectation that would tighten up on their own?

I'm lost, any help guys?

Yes the valves normally tighten up in my experience. Your readings are a little confusing since you use 3 decimal places for a normally 2 place decimal mm specification.

FYI check the clearances at TDC on compression stroke. Also Yamaha shim pads are an exact fit on the Husky if you are not close to a Husky store.

Yes MM

The 3rd digit is just more exact, just pretend its not there.

I still dont understand why they would be loose.

Yes I was at TDC. If I was not at TDC then I would have the chance to measure them being tighter than they really are, not looser.
