I just got an 04 Husqvarna sm450. Now this is my first husky so im a little in the dark here. Everything ive read says that these bikes are supposed to be 6psd but mine is not, Its only 5spd....does anyone know why this might be? any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So from what I can gather the 2 motors are the same with the exception of an extra gear on the sm....Am I correct on my thinking?

Correct. However the transmission ratio's vary slightly.
SM:
1-2.0
2-1.611
3-1.315
4-1.086
5-.920
6-.814

TC:
1-1.866
2-1.529
3-1.263
4-1.086
5-.954

If you really need that extra gear, you can probably pick up an SM trans and spoon it in the TC motor. Fujifactory in Delaware is always parting out Husky's and sells on e-bay:thumbup:
