Curious if anyone has any cool tricks for remover dried up shoe rubber off some chrome pipes? HOpefully there is some other trick than steel wool, as I really dont' want to scratch the chrome up. It's actually on my touring bike, VX800. I gave a gentleman a ride to his car after running out of gas and he didn't pull the peg down, but instead rested his foot on the pipe for 10 mins! The entire bottom of his shoe was melted to my bike. At least I have most of it off except for a crispy residue. I tried scraping it with a rubber/plastic and very hard scraper but not dice.

If neither of the above work just take the pipe off and use a polishin wheel with fine polishing compound.

But be careful not to do it too long or you may damage the chrome coating.
