Funny bit of info... Because i'm a nerd.

2008 Mustang GT (300hp bone stock)
0.0847hp per pound

2008 Yamaha WR250X (27hp bone stock)
0.0964hp per pound
Add the weight of a driver. For the Mustang, the number stays the same:thumbup: For the WR250X, you have to multiply by 2:eek:

Approximately, of course. In any case, I wouldn't drag vs a Mustang for money:headshake

I just wanna jab into this conversation a little late..

(At wheel) Horsepower is rated already with weight in mind. So to try and re-calculate something thats calculated is redundant.

But there's no [bike weight] component when figuring horsepower, so yes, weight does actually matter when talking power/weight ratios and how fast a bike feels.

Stick a LS1 engine into a loaded city bus and tell me the vehicle feels just as seat-of-the-pants fast as when it's in a vette.

weigh your bike and see if it weighs 280 lbs :laughingr :infrandom
Actually, I have (292 lbs, full of gas). It's one of the benefits when your roommate works at a landscape materials yard where they have floor scales designed to weigh the amount of material you have in your truck bed...

Now kindly remove your foot from your mouth! :thefinger

so....
dry weight = 280

and gas + oil + battery + coolant = 2 lbs?
sounds about right :Funny:

doesn't matter anyway
you can do all the power/weight comparos that you want, both of these bikes are slow heavy turds compared to real race bikes.

Why don't you find your way to the "i'm a douchebag forum". Quit wasting your time putting down other people's bikes.

By real race bikes you mean that tricycle you pedal to preschool right?

easy tiger :D

I'm not putting your bike down, what do you care what I think about your bike anyway? I'm sure the WR is an excellent bike. I'm even thinking about gettin one for my wife once she graduates from a crf150

I will put my drz down though. it's a heavy slow turd. I knew the drz was lacking, but riding my 450 smr race bike for the first time ruined me forever. if only they could make reliable street bikes that weighed 230 lbs and put out 50+ hp. :bike:

It says right on the Suzuki website under specs. that the curb weight of the DRZ is 321 lbs... Sounds like the Suzuki dealers were blowing smoke up your ass.
I notice they don't call it dry weight; they say "Curb Weight" which off the top of my head I wasn't sure what the official definition was. I know it's wikipedia but...

Curb (kerb) weight is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (such as motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, and not loaded with either passengers or cargo.

Dry weight on the DRZ is 321, dry weight on the WRX is 280... Bringing our weight difference to 41 pounds.

Drop 6 for a new exhaust, 1 for a new taillight assembly... 47 pounds difference.

DRZ stock HP is 33

WRX stock HP is 27

I did the math.

DRZ power to weight ratio is 9.7:1

WRX power to weight ratio: 10.1:1

And the winner is... YAMAHA!
Ha.....the Yamaha wins the lbs per hp with 10 to 1 and the DRZ is 9.7....think about it .

By your own math the DRZ is carrying LESS weight per horsepower.

I think we all agree that less weight per hp is more acceleration.
