Considering the WRX weighs in considerably less, achieving a greater power to weight ratio should be relatively easy. I would suspect that with a new exhaust, K&N filter, and power programmer the gains should be easily attained.

You also have one other advantage for the WRX... It's much, much, much sexier!!!

Isn't there only a ~15# difference between the two?
Dry weight on the DRZ is 321, dry weight on the WRX is 280... Bringing our weight difference to 41 pounds.

Drop 6 for a new exhaust, 1 for a new taillight assembly... 47 pounds difference.

DRZ stock HP is 33

WRX stock HP is 27

I did the math.

DRZ power to weight ratio is 9.7:1

WRX power to weight ratio: 10.1:1

And the winner is... YAMAHA!

Holy cow..I had two different dealers tell me the DRZ was 295# and I swear I read that number somewhere else. For the size of the bike..that thing's a porker.
It says right on the Suzuki website under specs. that the curb weight of the DRZ is 321 lbs... Sounds like the Suzuki dealers were blowing smoke up your ass.

All this being said, the DRZ is still a badass bike and we should all be happy we ride SuMo's and not anything else!

Now if you add the 1.5 hp for an exhaust, and the 2 hp for a K&N (with airbox lid removed, and another 3hp with a power programmer. Your looking at 33.5 hp.

that's 0.123hp per pound

A stock DRZ is 0.093hp per pound.

:headshake

weigh your bike and see if it weighs 280 lbs :laughingr :infrandom
Actually, I have (292 lbs, full of gas). It's one of the benefits when your roommate works at a landscape materials yard where they have floor scales designed to weigh the amount of material you have in your truck bed...

Now kindly remove your foot from your mouth! :thefinger

so....
dry weight = 280

and gas + oil + battery + coolant = 2 lbs?
sounds about right :Funny:

doesn't matter anyway
you can do all the power/weight comparos that you want, both of these bikes are slow heavy turds compared to real race bikes.
Why don't you find your way to the "i'm a douchebag forum". Quit wasting your time putting down other people's bikes.

By real race bikes you mean that tricycle you pedal to preschool right?
