Anyone riding a Gas-Gas SM on the street? A new dealer just opened up in my neighborhood and that's all he sells (only had a couple bikes but can order any model). The guy who owns the place said he could get me an 04 for his cost, to get one out on the street and get some exposure for his business and hopefully sell some more. They seem pretty expensive, but have a lot of highend parts, weisco pistons, ohlins shocks, fuel injection etc.

Anyone have any opinions about these bikes????

Where is this dealer? I'd like to talk to him about gettin a bike or two up to the Northeast. I have a friend in NO who can help me out with that. You can PM me with the info... They look like nice bikes.

Thanks.

the gas gas cannot be street registered in NY as a new bike. if you got one from another state already titled, sure. but even fun wheels has stopped carrying them because DMV said no way to both the supermoto and the dual sport.

Its funny, in upstate NY guys are getting street plates on a Honda CRF250x they bought in NY with "offroad use only on the MSO and no MV-50 from the dealer they bought it from. One member of my bike club did this and two guys I met on a DS ride. Too bad about Fun Wheels dropping Gas Gas, I stopped in there last year while visiting wife's family. Hard to look at the bikes though, the way they had them packed in. The dealer in Rochester is selling Gas Gas at very low prices if anyone wants to come that far.

Not a motard, but I have a 2000 Gas Gas MC 250 for dirt duty. We ride in the woods mostly. I love that bike. It's the easiest thing to ride. I think anything the company makes would be fantastic.

It's called extreme action cycles and is in Slidell, LA on Gause Blvd. I guess he used to have a shop up in Picayune MS. There's a dealer up in Hattiesburg MS that has some left over Gas-Gas models but have dropped them for this year. The distributor for Gas-Gas is in FL somewhere so that's where the bike would be shipped from probably. When he called them on the phone they said they had the 04 450 in stock.

I talked to a guy here in New Mexico who is a trials rider. He and a bunch of his freinds have Gas Gas trials bikes. A few of them, from what he says, bought their wives the SM Gas Gases for them to plonk around while the guys are out trialsing. I have to remiond you, these guys are kinda well uh...uppity. I have yet to talk to their girlfreinds about the bikes but i think i'll get feedback like "thay have good pick-up and, It's ssooooo cute!, ya know, shit like that!

Fuel injected 450? hmmmm, might have to check this out... :) J/K! Seriously though, next time I run down to Picayune to see the parents, I'll swing in and have a look at the 450's. Thx for the heads up.

The GasGas 450 is very comparable to an S440 in performance. I wouldn't mind owning one if I had a dealer that was nearby that could support me with parts.

DR650's are already street legal. The GasGas has an OFF ROAD ONLY title! So, don't sweat about the DR's!!!!

Thats Incorrect --
Gas Gas Supermotard / from the factory do NOT have off road only on the title... These are not Fse's converted to motards , they come Street Legal from the Factory so there is no hassle getting it registered..

You might have to install the mirrors and blinkers, if the dealer didn't. They come shipped with the bike. I think that only the Japanese manufacturers have "OFF ROAD ONLY" stated on their titles, of their ENDURO bikes. When I was at the Dealer here in Slidell LA he called the distributor to ask them what he had to do to get it "DOT", so that it could be registered. I didn't get a real direct answer, but the dealer should do all the work for you. Especially if you're plunking down $7500 to $8000, on one of these.
