i have an 04 625 smc and my mileage is outright shitty. ill go litterally 50-60 miles and the engine quits and i have to turn on the reserve and fill up. could soemthing be wrong i dont ride the damn thing hard i dont know whats going on. whats interesting is tonight it sputtered and died. i flipped to reserve and it started up again. then when i was riding i switched it back to the main and it got me home about a mile or 2 no sputtering at all. I just got it 3 days ago. it has a full doma exhaust and apparently was rejetted by the previous owner. on the freeway pacing my friends r1 doing 80 im indicating 74. Im not sure whats going on. if someone could help id appreciate it.

None of us have gps. I'm pretty sure his bike is spot on. I sold my r1 last week and got this and our bikes used to indicate pretty much the same while pacing each other.

Ill check the gearing and see what I have when I get home. Is there a thread describing how to rejet these bikes and tune the carbs. I’ve played with Holley 4 barrel carbs on my old mustang but I don’t think I would even know where to start on a mikuni if that’s what it is. Also where would you go to get the main jets? So I’m definitely a bit short on mileage but I had always heard these thing getting 50 miles to the gallon easy. Is that an exaggeration?

rfear sprocket is 38 i havent had a chance to pullt he cover and look at the front yet though.
