Here's another update from Jason Weigandt who is on the sidelines at the Parts Unlimited Triton GNCC:
"By lap three today, David Knight had left Travis Pastrana and went after Nathan Kanney for the lead. Once he had it he started pulling away at a wild rate, lapping two minutes faster than everyone else. Kanney is now hanging on to second with a fierce battle behind him. Barry Hawk moved all the way to third, then pitted and had Jimmy Jarrett and Garrett Edmisten get by him. The three were very close and are closing on Kanney in a fight for second. Charlie Mullins dented his pipe and fell back outside the top ten and is clawing his way forward.
In XC2 Thad DuVall is out front of Josh Weisenfels, but Andrew Matusek is turning fast lap times in third. White flag is now out and Knighter looks good, with Jarrett is up to second, Kanney third, Edmisten fourth and Hawk fifth. Pastrana is still in there, grabbing a fresh new camelback and looking to soldier on to the finish, even though he's exhausted. He's holding onto 10th place."
A GNCC is basically a 3 hour long MX/Off road race.
Imagine a huge field with each class of 40-60 people wide lined up one class behind the other with about 25 rows. They take off in waves threw a MX style 1st turn. The course winds threw the woods and WFO threw fields and there are some nasty water crossings. The track is constantly changing as the next time you come threw roughly 999 other bikes had ridden thew it.
