Hey guys...... I have my son this weekend but I have been doing some little short rides to test the engine settings. OMG..... This MF is so much fun! I'll do about a five or ten min. session on each setting and it's unreal. The #2 setting is supposedly the advanced setting. I agree with it being much more throttle responsive and torquey. but I feel the top end is limited. I put mine on zero and
(of course she wouldn't pull a wheelie) I was amased at how smooth the power was. It was very limited exiting a turn but I was going tthrough some minor twisties and looked down and saw 101mph before 8K rpm in 5th. I pulled over and put this baby on 9 and it had bottom and top end. I then pulled over and put her on #6 and it was different as well. I'm going to try each setting and see where they are applicable and use them accordingly. Before you post in the Top speed of '08 690 smc board. Test your settings, It's F...in amazing.

elkbow.......I figured out the problem, we had it set on #2. It's the most aggressive setting but not the most benificial.

according to my friend from KTM, there is a default in 3 through 9, the only settings that have different maps are 0 - 2, i'll check with him again, he said there were only 3 maps, wasn't sure if it was 0-2 or 1-3 but i need to try a different setting than 2, as my numb arm and hand its hard to control the jerkiness right on the initial part of the throttle

so here are the settings

0 = not supposed to run for more than a tank, not sure exactly what it does

1 = smoothed out performance

2 = most performance

3 - 9 = standard performance

#1 is the setting you put it on for a friend who you are inevetably going to let ride it but you really don't want to. It sucks ass and rides like a DRZ 400. #3-#9 are all totally different & fun to play with. #2 is definitely the most performance but like you elkbow I find my hand falling asleep and getting numb along with the jerks of rolling on and letting off.

Why couldn't KTM have pre-programmed a couple of those #'s w/ the Akra maps?

To the OP, so you REALLY think each postion is different in spite of what the manual says?

I couldn't really tell the difference between 2 and 3 to be honest.

2 and 3 are definitely different, mainly the low end, no jerking on 3 compared to 2...

i rode 1 today also, its smooth, but i like the grunt when i want to pass someone on the twisties

for the settings, i think 3 rocks....and to me it almost seems like it does better than 2 in the mid and top end, but maybe because i have the akra on now so it just hauls butt better....

didn't get a chance to try 4 through 9, my friend from ktm told me that they are the same as 3

yeah jason, he is answering my emails, but he is out of the office all this week, i'll hit him up with it and see if he can get some help....if you could, send me a PM with all the details so i don't have to go back and read, when it started, what it started doing, what it is doing now, etc...

i sent you a kinda long PM.

i also forgot to mention that i also keep getting a white (maybe plastic) dust inside my gauges. i keep opening it up and just cleaning it out because i'd rather just take care of it myself than file warranty claims and all that crap. maybe i'll address that issue once i get the running part resolved.

the bike is all stock. the only thing i did was unhook those 2 wires for the 2nd and 3rd gear restriction, which should have nothing to do with this.

this bike was great when it was running right, the thing was an absolute blast, but now when i ride it i just get very pissed off and thats no fun.

I have had mine on 2 pretty much from day one and just changed it to 3 to give it a try. Night and Day difference! 3 is my new favorite setting. You seriously can't tell any difference? #3 got rid of the jerkyness and feels like way more midrange, and it didn't seem like I really lost any top end, I LIKEY VERY MUCH:D
