Dorsoduro vs. Superduke

I'm leaning towards puchasing a Superduke. It looks like the ultimate in hooliganism, although I dig the Dorsoduro also... What do you guys prefer.

Superduke. Best streetbike I've owned, and I've had good number. 999, Brutale 910, SM610, Duc SS1000, to name a few.
remember that one is a rebodied sport-cruiser and the other is... well... THE SUPERDUKE!

Never looked at it that way. The body is purty sweet though, but your right the SD is well a SUPERDUKE
:headscratWhere's all the Dorsoduro fans at... Bueller?
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooouperduke

My opinion of the ape.. its a 750, so less nutz, I'd compare it more with the 690 duke than the SD.

I think both ape's look good.. (the Dorso, and the shiver) But once you look at the shiver then you start seeing the sv650.. it goes on and on..

the SD is just plain mean and nasty.. just what the doctor ordered.

here's some SD porn..

The Dorso seems a different animal to the Shiver, and it's certainly no 690.

95hp and same weight as SD/hyper.

So presumably cdlabate has RIDDEN them both, tell us what you think!
haha the ktm 690 duke dosent even compare to the aprila 750. aprils 94hp and 78 lbs of torque vs ktms 64 hp and 38 lbs of torque...not eve close and only like 100cc diff and not much weight gain on the 750....i snag that 750 if i hadnt bought a husky 610
well never ridden the superduke but i own an aprilia shiver. the dorso is basically a shiver with a couple suspension and cosmetic upgrades. I would buy the KTM. my shiver along with other shiver owners have experienced nothing but problems. Mine has been back in the shop twice within the first month i bought it. My starter is fried at the moment and who knows how long aprilia will take to get a new one. some on the ape forum have waited as long as 3 weeks.

I am sure by the time the dorso comes out, most of these problems will be sorted, but a direct comparison between it and the KTM, the ape doesnt stand a chance. but just based on my experience with the Shiver id never buy the dorso, kinda wish right now i looked at the superduke or hyper instead of buying the shiver....
I think superduke is not even good for holiganism. You cant even climb sidewalk with that!?

you should make a challange of dorsoduro, hypermotard and 990sm
wouldn't it make more sense to compare the dorso to a hypermotard or ktm 950 sm instead of the superduke? might not be a litre bike but weight and build wise I think they're more on the same level.
the duke looks about as stupid as they get & your right how could it be a hooligan bike with that kind of ground clearance .

hmm well, these are claimed from the manufacturer so obviously a grian of salt.. but:

claimed 88kw/120Hp for the superduke..

claimed 70.8kw/95HP for the shiver

claimed 67.3kW/92HP dorso

claimed 65kw/90HP hypermotard

claimed 48kw/65HP for the duke

so I supose it's a stretch either way.. I've not ridden a shiver/dorso but the guys at the show this year were talking all kinds of HP numbers for the dorso, and how it would put the SD to the test.

I kind of doubt it.

As far as the dorso, and the shiver being different animals.. I'd guess they're a lot closer than say the multistrada/hyper.. Even the 690SM/Duke are going to be farther apart in terms of ride/purpose

In my opinion.. I'd go for the SD.. and keep a tard as well. I guess it's kind of like all the guys with the hypermotards thinking they have motards.. it's just not the case they're just standard bikes w/a funny front fender.

the dorso and the shiver are basically the same bike but with a different front fender/headlight assembly. the frames are the same i believe but it does has upgraded suspension and the rear gear is a 46 rather then a 44. but i agree, comparing it to a superduke is kind of comparing an orange to a tangerine. kinda the same kind of bike but not really
Ya, I agree with you guys on the fact that the SD and Dorso are two different catagories of bike/but not. I just sold my 540exc and am looking for something a little more street worthy, but still fun in the twisties. I deffinetly don't want a 'me too' bike.

I have narrowed my decission down to the SD and Dorso. I'm leaning towards the SD because a 350+lb motard doesn't sound appealing to me. I'm just looking for good info and opinions. Has anybody had a chance to ride a Dorso?

IMO you might want to ride one before you buy anything.
how about the goold ole 625smc? Its still a true tard but a little bit better at street riding.
