Part number 3D7-13907-00-00

Remove seat, side covers, tank shrouds and loosen tank.

Remove connections on the bottom of tank. Slide the orange clip out and push in on the both sides of the blue squares to remove gas fitting. Disconnect electrical fitting.

Fuel pump is held on tank with 3mm allan screws.

You will need to remove the rubber gasket from old pump and place on new one.

rubber gasket to be swapped.

Pay attention to the way the pump is facing before you remove it.
Face the new pump the same direction as old one, fuel nozzle points toward front of tank...

pretty quick and simple install if you are out of warranty and want to save some cash.

Did you pay for pump out of your own pocket, or did Yamaha pay for it?

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a relatively straight forward job.

Did you contact yamaha about it, or try to get yamaha to cover any of the replacement cost? Just wondering since it appears this problem goes beyond just one or two bikes.

If you talked to yamaha what did they say?

Yamaha USA was not helpful to me at all.
I am a year out of warranty. Bought june 08 with just the 12 month warranty.
Yamaha wanted me to take it to a dealer for diagnosis but they wouldn't agree to pay for it even if it turned out to be the fuel pump.

I brought up that they were recalled in Japan and mine fell into the build dates that were effected. No help.

Oh course they aren't going to cover it, the bike has obviously been abused. I bet you do wheelies and jump railroad tracks and stuff with that thing all the time, ya damn hooligan. :D

Nice write up, see ya tomorrow:thumbup:

That sucks your fuel pump went out. I double checked my bike and it's manufacture date is April 2008. I only have 4k miles with a good pump. I read somewhere if you only use the key to turn on/off the bike this is better? Did you by any chance use the engine kill switch to turn the bike on/ off? I always leave the switch on run and use the key.... just curious,

Cole

sorry to bring back an old thread...... any one wanna sell me the bad / broken wr250x or wr250r fuel pump (or just the spout / fuel line connector piece)? little nice write up by the way.

i was rushing a job, and accidently dropped my tank off the bike.... and snapped the little plastic piece where the fuel line connects to the pump.

heres some pics.... i can get a hose for the back piece you need to cut off, but i cant find the 90 degree with connector anywhere and dont want to spend hundrends on a new fuel pump :headscrat
