Hello, new here and i am not sure if this is the right place to post this but i am having some issues with the clutch on my bike. It started a few days ago when i was about to leave work and it kept stalling every time i put the bike in gear ( with the clutch in ) I had no choice but to ride home so i revved it up and got it into gear, while riding it for the first 1 kilometer it was slipping but fine for the rest of the ride home (10 mins) started it up the next day cold and everything was fine rode to work with no issues. On the way home i took the long way as its a very fun ride. about 25 mins in it just about completely failed. could not shift and when the clutch was pulled in it did not do anything. Got home pulled the cover off and inspected all the plates, they look absolutely fine. Springs and everything. Now the clutch lever has no resistance and just flops back and forth doing nothing. Not sure if the cable needs to be bled, lever needs to be adjusted, bad springs, or what. I run high performance Synthetic motorcycle Lucas oil ( 10w- 50 )
Hey thanks for the reply, I decided to bleed the clutch lines yesterday and a decent amount of air came out. The mineral oil is full but still nothing, there is zero resistance she hen pulling in and when it is pulled in full it still doesn't engage.
The master went on my 2008 this spring/summer. The master was leaking and it turned out to be some marring in the cylinder wall and seals were shot. I was filling it at least once a week and carrying mineral oil and a 8mm, just in case. I bled and filled it on the side of the road at least a half dozen times. I called Halls Cycles, dropped about $400 for a new master, line and slave, and everything is good again.
Also...when you bleed it, you have to do the crack bleeder, squeeze lever, wait, close bleeder release about a dozen times to get it bled properly.
Or reverse bleed with a syringe. Makes the job a lot easier and faster.
