Hey all...
names Al, from Indonesia. I'm new here.

I'm gonna straight for my question.
I'm currently modifying my bike (convert) into (what I think is) supermoto. My bike is Yamaha V-ixion, called FZ150i in some other countries. It have similar main frame and engine with YZF R15 and YZF R125/MT125.
Nah...now that my bike is not a dirt bike, can I call it a supermoto?
I have this debate in local forum.
Some said that I can't call my bike a supermoto just because it's "looks like" one.
sorry if this is just a stupid question but I do really need the answer.

I've extremely converted mine. Cut the subframe and replaced it with a custom one. Put an entirely new plastics from a dirtbike.
But still it's not a supermoto. Hehe...

I think the best test of if it's a supermoto is something like this :

It's running street wheels right? How would you feel about riding it off a 3 foot drop?

A - Hell yeah!
B - My bike would be fine but I'd hurt myself!
C - Hell yeah but I'd mess up my bike!
D - Hell no!

If you answered A or B you're probably riding a supermoto. If you answered C or D. Not so much!

This is really encouraging but...still, I think I have to save my money, buy a dirtbike and convert it to have a real supermoto.

Owned it for almost 5 years now. I rode it around Borneo island for adventure and touring. This bike makes me smile more than anything! ^_^

Idk... If it looks like a dirtbike, and sounds like one, and has 17" wheels...And this is important... *Has more ground clearance than suspension travel.

It's definiltly a motard at that point, regardless of what it started out as.

This is it. Started as a small displacement standard bike. Fall in love with supermoto but can't afford to buy a proper dirtbike to convert. So...decided to modify what I have
Replace the subframe entirely with a custom one so that I can put Kawasaki KLX plastics on it.
Bought a secondhand (used) yz85 front fork. But the rake angle is not right. Working on it right now.
The three spokes casting wheel is not looking good. Save some money to buy a proper spokes wheel.

That's it.
I know it looks not really good but you guys know the condition in my part of the world
This is so far the best effort I can do to own a "supermoto"

Well, you've definitely made it look like a sumo. I think I agree with idle and mod40car in that regardless of what it started as its a cool as hell conversion. I kinda dig the 3 spoke rims, especially on the street tubeless is easier. Spoke rims are better off road.

Sharp looking little bike in any case. Nice work.

Looks like a proper conversion to supermoto to me. Nice, fun bike. Looks like it has plenty of ground clearance.

Wow...everyones reaction is so nice!

I just left the bike at my friend's garage (some kind of little workshop where we working on our bike). Gonna put the spokes wheel and fix some problems I said before.

But here are some pics of the bike when I have a touring with my friends.

Even ride it on the beach
