When would be a good day to make a spectating trip out there for a weekend excursion. I live in LA and I just got back from the Grange race and I thought It would be cool to take a weekend trip out to AMAGO and watch a track day. Just to see the guys and different bikes running and maybe ask some questions. I just wanted to know when a good day would be to see the most amount of guys or girls running? Are there certain days where there are only SMs on the track. Please advise. Also how far is the track from San Diego?

Amago is a light switch, been there buy myself and shown up with usually no more than five guys there. They opened up a dirt section and I believe more people have been going. small tight track nothing to fancy but very spectator friendly, It's open all week and weekends, basically a practice track, no races not yet anyhow. I would say a weekend would be your best bet but don't be surprised if the track is plagued with pocket bikes. Its about 45 min. from San Marcos where i live, from San Diego say P.B. your at about an hour and a half. You also have Apex in Perris a little closer to you but only on Thursdays so far, and there's always still Grange my favorite numerous pro's practice there great for spectating and meeting new people with Q and A

I think your best bet is to keep an eye out here, on the board. Look for several peeps getting together to go and then hike out yourself. If I picked a random day I would venture a guess and say go on Sunday.

I'm going to start a new post soon and see who's going this weekend too. If there's a few that dedicate to a certain day then I'll go then.

i've only tried the mud puddle section

lots of folks there on sunday, anyone got a dirt section review?

looking at it (and one time through real real slow and sideways) it looks like they did it just right. big table, nice left hander, right flat everyone crash here hairpin, big ol burn leading to jump back onto the track.

Thanks for the info, sounds pretty fun, just two more, where abouts is it? over by turn six i'm assuming. and they flood it with the water truck huh, or was it after some weather?
it was 2 weeks ago after the big rains.

it's actually right at turn 2. they took down the fence, you go off the track then there's a big drop before hitting the table. i'm curious from folks that rode it if it's tough scrapping off enough speed for the decent into the dirt? it's like straighaway, little turn 1 right, start turn 2, then bombs away into the dirt section!

My opinion, (didnt get to ride it yet, too soggy after hard rain when I saw it)
It looks legit.
It fits in with the theme of amagos tight asphalt track perfectly and it has more variety than any other track Ive been on..
Plus, for you MX guys youll LOVE the size of the table, its no joke!

I cant wait to finally try that thing on Sunday!

I may bring out the big pig on Sunday. Got a new Rennsport to put on the front.

Should have the street rubber for the RM65 by then, can't wait to turn the boy loose on the yellow rocket.

I rode the dirt section last Saturday in what I think was prime conditions. There was one mud hole left as you exit the track and head down to the tabletop, but there was a clean line around it so no big deal. I thought the dirt section was a blast, but it was the first time I've been in the dirt in a loooooong time. About thirteen years or so.... :hmmm: The only issue I had was when you're coming back onto the track. There's a jump that takes you back onto the track. I wasn't going far enough over the jump to get the front tire all the way onto the track, and there's a dip just before the asphalt starts. I hit the dip several times and bottomed out the forks pretty hard a few times. I'd like to fill in the dip with some dirt, or maybe learning to jump better would work too. I'm gonna try and go again this Saturday.

Did someone say beer? ;)

Hmm, I may go.

If all you guys want to stop by my place afterwards, we could probably have some beers there if it sounds like fun. Maybe even watch part of the chargers game? I'm in Ramona.

We could figure it out there I suppose.
