Possibly heh, though supermotocanada, unfortunitly its kidna taken the name for all of canada, but mainly its based of Ontario and Quebec. so i cant say i know any one out in alberta, though it would be alot of fun to have one in the mountiens.
Well, there is the whole West Coast series....
Contact Dan Barker at Barker Bros. MC - he's got TM dealers closer to you, there might be some interest we just haven't heard about yet!
And, BTW, it's nice to see someone else cruising the forums in the white season! imp:
starting to get the itch already its been 1 month since i rode last. it was at an indoor arenacross track. not bad for dec 20 riding but need more now.
Hmm.. indoor arenacross? Any chance you could get me in touch with someone there?
The manager at the venue I want is concerned about the fumes indoors, I could use some professional advice from someone who's run an indoor event... imp:
Contact the alberta oldtimers mx ass'n. they put on the arenacross www.aotmx.com, from what i have seen and experienced they would open up the large bay door when there was an excessive amount of smoke/fumes in the air. keep in mind it was minus 15 c out side so the door could only be open every so often otherwise the heaters would run too much and drive up the heating bill. at the event you are proposing, in the summer just leave all the large bay doors open. just my 2 cent
Ha your a funny guy Yzf106sm, there is nothing down here! I heard of some club called the second gear club, but they are a big let down! I hear its all old cross country guys and they have no drive for supermoto!
I guess I'm outta luck down here, unless I can find some riders down here and we get our own riding started.
Hows the riding up in Edmonton, I have a shop up there I should maybe move! NOT! LOL!
we have a supermoto night at the local road race track, stratotech park, on wednesday nights, no dirt though. the track is a large kart track so no need to regear too much. edmonton international raceway holds a supermoto race or two in the summer using their 1/2 mile paved oval pitlane and some sand for a dirt section which has jumps. also the emra has supermoto included into their schedule at stratotech but they are expensive to race with and again no dirt, but there is a few of us into sm and mx up here. its growing slowly, but coming along
Ya we have Race city speedway down here, but i dought very much that they like supermoto down here! They just built a new cart track but the AMRA mini guys use it! I'm not sure if it would be big enough to use for motard stuff on big bikes!
It would be great to get some info about your guys riding nights, and when there are some races we could come see. Is there any beginner classes up there?
Well my email address is mattyjohnson1981@shaw.ca, please if you get sometime please email any info! I would love to know where to buy motard stuff as well!
His 'short track' nights at Race City will be good for sumo bikes. No dirt, tho.
If enough of us show an interest, he might think about supermoto schools/track nights.
Any more news on events or places to ride in Alberta? I'm from Calgary, living in Fort Mac now for the next 6-8 months. I have been lusting for the new Aprilia SXV's for many months and now they are here! Just have to line up some riding locations and fellow riders to run with before I pull the trigger. Hard to justify a SM bike when there is hardly a corner to be had here in flat land Alberta.
Heard a rumor that some people bought an old kart track in Witaskwin (sp??) and were going to convert to a supermoto track but haven't heard much else. Have heard that Stratotech is a fun supermoto track (fast!) so will have to check that out too.
Enjoy the winter and hope to see ya'll out this spring.
Good to see some Alberta interest. Raced the Edmonton series this year lots of good racing. Anyone interested in a Alberta super-moto club? We have enough racers and I hear the tracks are coming.
Well there are 3 of us in drayton valley that go to strato tech. two guys on ktm ex 300 and i have my brp honda xr 650 r. My friends are much more competitive than I but just going out and making some turns. Also do some trail and dune riding abit.
