Any known (2007) 510 SMR Transmission problems?

Hey Guys,

I am considering retiring from husqvarna for good. Pretty fed up with a transmission issue I have been dealing with since I bought the bike with a known trans problem (6th and 5th had lost teeth with roughly ~4000~ miles on engine). I was under the false assumption that it was a good deal, so I turned it into a project; threw brand new gears in, and finally got her running this summer. Ran like a dream, shifting was excellent; very smooth... Fast forward ~5,000 miles~; after changing the oil, which I routinely do every 500, I saw my beautiful gear teeth in my oil again. Split the engine and learned that I need a new 3rd and 4th gear. I have Googled every forum and have yet to find anything relevant to this transmission issue. Any ideas? i find it hard to believe that ALL the gears are defective. Has anyone heard of or experienced this? I love it, but a new tranny every 4-5k is no fun. Engine has a little under 9k, trans/engine was rebuilt by a professional mechanic, adjusted valves twice over the summer, always good gas, and I constantly check the oil. Any help/info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rmcodrum

I remember seeing some posts about problems with the hardening on the Trans gears which caused some premature wear of the gears. I haven't seen this first hand though. Transmissions are usually pretty tuff unless something breaks and gets sucked in there
Yeah it's a thread I started. It's a long long story.

I have a extra trans in the for sale section. Or pm me we can work something out. Hell drop the motor in a cooler ship it here for about 60 bucks and ill even put it in.

Here is the thread. I wanted to get to the bottom if it.

I might also add that your husky mechanic was prolly unaware of the issue. You must look very closely at the gears to catch the problem early.

You're a good man amigo

OP, home boy knows his way around a Husky - Not a bad offer
Awe I'm blushing. I won't even charge anything. Buy the trans and ill put her in. And I'll dye pen the gears and take pics so you know it's good.

sounds like your a good guy. not aure if you have one already but a slipper and a cush drive would give the gears an easier time!

I got a slipper and if make the world of difference in smoothness
I forgot all about these. I remember a few yeàrs ago they were developing them.

I'm a big fan of Cush drives they really soften up the driveline shock. I was trying to swap a spare KTM Cush drive hub off my 620 into my 510 years ago but i couldn't get it to fit due to the offset. They def work
Hey all,

Thank you for all the info, been away with work all weekend, looks like i have to take a dye pen to the trans and look at all the gears. I think a slipper might be a good investment, but i am wondering, how much do those kush sprockets run? Looks like there are some good reviews on the forum. BTW, 06-530rr, I PMed you.
