Well I gave the Distanzias a try this time. The tires worked great in wet and dry conditions. The ride was smooth for a muti purpose thread pattern.Like the Conti SMs and Diablos they did not last very long. The front went 1200 miles and the rear just a little over a 1000 miles.Looks like I am going to have a hard time finding a tire that will last on the XR650L.I guess I could slow down but thats no fun. :twofinger I might try the M1s next or the the Azaro SP.I ran 32 front and 36 lbs of air in the rear tires so low air pressure did not come into play. I am having fun but it is costing a lot of money. ;)

Try Bridgestones. I have a set of BT010s on my VFR. They have held up really well for 5000 miles. I think they have dual compound construction, harder in the middle, softer on the edges. Not sure they make the BT010 but I have heard good things about the BT012 and BT014.

Amazing. I don't know of anyone (including some very fast guys) who wears out tires as fast as you.
I rode with some guys from Cal. last weekend. They were out here on vacation. They wanted me to come out to Palomar (where ever that is)and show their freinds what I can do.Gregg said that Palomar was the closest thing to the roads that we have here.I impressed the hell out of them. :headscrat

The M1's are great tires but probably the same mileage as the Diablos.
Why don't you try a harder tire? I mention this as I have a buddy that is very quick on his SV1000 and he finally gave up on gumball tires and went for Metz Z6's and he loves them and he claims he hasn't given up anything in terms of real world grip. Me personally, I've always bought the softest tires I could get, if for no other reason than for the "psychological" effect. With that said, my Sv buddy does switch out to a second set of wheels with M1's mounted for his track day forays. He did mention that the only reason he was doing that, was so that he didn't screw up his Z6's. :) Me, I only get 2000 miles out of a set of M1's on my Bandit750.

I cannot find any sport touring tires in the 150/60 size. You can get them in a 150/70 but that might not work out on my wheels.I would put a set of Avon STs on in a heartbeat if they made them.

I run michelin pilot powers on my SMC and so far I have over 2K pretty hard miles on them and they still have plenty of life.

My expereince with another set of powers on my 748 was that they last much longer than one would expect given the soft grippy nature of the compound.
