Hey brother, thank you very much for this thread, not only you get to know wich parts to get, but we have a "preview" of how the bike looks...and it?s amazing!

Can?t wait to have the wheels and disc/calliper, etc...:thumbup:

This bike is amazingly versatile. You have a 625 sporty on and off road from start, just change the wheel set...then you have a travel road bike with the larger tank...with it, and the offroad wheels, you have a "rally" Adventure tipe bike. With the torque we know it has:hmmm:. Change the chain set according to the purpose and other "tunnes", all very simple... and you can do a lot with this bike. Oh, dear, oh dear, if only they had make it a 6 gear...and perfection in versatility, in my opinion.
I?ve only ride mine has a supermoto on asfalt and a little dirt. Some say it has a bad ergo to stand up like you do a lot offroad, but I haven?t felt that at all, and climbing 45?, I think with minor changes on handlebars set and suspension tunning, with the dirt tyres it will be a excelent offroader. It is identical to the 625 SXC minus the carb, so I really don?t get those who say that.:headscrat Maybe it?s me... The best supermotos are the MX bikes converted. The big names all go to factory pick up a let?s say CFR 450 and next stop the shop. Sorry, I just wanted to congrat you and ended up leaving some impressions on the 625 smc-sxc. It?s a bit of a theme around here. Mine is from 06 with only 15.000 km.

Again, thank you for taking the time to show us and info us with the details for parts needed.:thumbup:

More questions

I am still looking to do this to my 06 625 smc. I just finished a 600 mile trip around oregon off road (part of the OBDR). I had MT-60's on it in stock wheel configuration. The rear tire is almost gone after this one ride. So, I need a dirt setup because I had fun. A set of Giant Loop bags, pazz's setup, and Ill be off to the races. I also noticed that my bike in stock configuration feels weird to stand up on. I used to run an old kx 250 standing up all the time but I dont feel comfortable on the SMC. I was hoping the change in rake going to a 18/21 setup would make if feel better. My arse is also still recovering from the seat time... If anyone is selling the parts needed to make this conversion happen, please IM me so that I can get started. I have nothing I need at this point. I would like the bigger tank as well because our trip was dictated by my range. I brought 2 liters of fuel but that only got me about 110 miles. I was the siphon king by the end of the trip.

I am also wondering how the SMC's suspension will work off road compared to other dirt specific bikes. Can I make it softer? Is there enough travel?

Finally, I was told that an 18 inch rear will not fit with the stock swing arm, is that correct?

I was just in the garage thinking. Could I just buy an entire front end from an EXC or any other 450? Shocks, brake, tire, axle, wheel, controls, ect and slip that into the SMC tripple clamp? Then just get an 18" rear and be done? What should I be shopping for for the rear wheel and hub?

Thanks again for anyone that can comment!

you really want a cush drive rear hub. i dont know if the front end is the same axle width as the 450, probably is but check.
SMC front is wider. The forks are 5mm wider or something like that. Look at the spacer behind the brake rotor. For a set of standard forks SXC EXC... you'd have to loose the spacer.
If the SMC is wider, I would need to find a spacer to make up the width change. What I am really looking to find out is, would it be easier to buy a parted out front end from an offroad bike with complete brake assembly and shocks to make the change really easy... What kind of suspension changes would getting an offroad specific fork do for the SMC? Does it seam plausible to use a complete front end and simply add a spacer?

Which front end would be the most ideal for the cost?

Also, anyone know what rear wheel, hub, and sprocket I should be looking for if I am searching for a rear setup? For instance, what bike would have the correct wheel and hub stock that I could search for?

Thanks again!
