Alright, now we're starting to get some momentum with this thread. I'd like to drop a 250 in my '02 CRF450 chassis & try a couple of rounds with the AMA. Does anyone know if the 250 engine will bolt in?

FYI- the 250 class will be for four-strokes only- no 125 cc two strokes allowed. This is according to the AMA technical director who deemed our KX100 project illegal for the new class, saying it "didn't fit the image they were pursuing with the new class."

I dont agree with only 4 strokes..it should be the same as the AMA supercross and motocross nationals...the cost is cheaper and I am on a KTM sponsorship and the 4 stroke wont be available for some time in limited quantities..the 2 smoke is fast enough and will bring more racers..young and die hard 2 strokers to the races(thats the idea, support class) the ama has another bug up their political butt...I race 4 strokes in the other classes...but the 2 smokes are fine easy to fix and race....easier on the wallet...need to protest the ama decision...2 strokes dont pollute as much as people think..lots of technology lately with 2 stroke efficiency..look at europe and the 250 supercross class..rest my case...my 2 cents..

Well said...I am running a 125 this year for my first season of racing. I grew up riding 2-strokes and am definately a die hard 2 stroker. I agree, the regulations should be the same as supercross and motocross.

4 stroke only is bs. All I own is 2 strokes. And the 4 strokes have a big advantage in supermoto. To win a supermoto race on a 2 stroke you have to try twice as hard.

I agree...KTM300...thats why I sold my 2 stroke KTM125 and I raced it a few times in supermoto...with all the aftermarket supermoto parts..hoping the new KTM 250SXF would be available and its not...so limited. I wonder who on KTM is racing it..and I have a co sponsor with them..I wil probably be riding a Yamaha YZ250F...going through the whole supermoto change...thanks. It should have been 2 and 4 stroke to attract more newcomers..etc. I dont think there will be as many as they thought..my opinion...I hope Im wrong.

2 strokes suck for Supermotard yet everyone is complaining they aren't allowed. The 125's aren't even competitive in MX much less going down straights at high speeds like Supermotard. I think a 125 would blow up very easily in Supermotard unless it was maintained every week and ringed every second ride or so.

My 2 cents

well said my mate had a YZ125 set up for super moto the thing lunched itself every time he rode it ,he put it back to dirt trim and brought a CRF450 and first time out on the track he was 5sec a lap faster
