I was out some tonight, finally got the bike registered, drove over to a friends house, did the two wire disconnect, a bit more power in 2nd and 3rd, i can wheelie easy with a yank in first and second gear, but third I have to clutch it some, I live at 5500 feet elevation here in New Mexico, so don't have quite the power of the flatlanders, but still does well....

well reading closely, they talk about gearing and being a dual sport supermoto, i.e. comfortable to ride on the street for quite awhile and hit the track, so best of both worlds:

"Aggressive speedsters will jump for joy with a bike that yearns to run hard from 30mph to 90mph. Hooligans, on the other hand, may bum out at the fact the bike doesn’t want to jump off the line and huck wheelies in first and second gear. It’s just more about taste than anything else. The bike is fast, real fast for a stock 690 single. And we have heard that an exhaust with some tuning will awaken the beast even more. Gearing may enhance the launch but it may give up some of its awesome traits higher in the revs".

Fast, real fast, well that says that suspension or gearing changes for the wheelies, but its made to go fast, which they liked, but they only said they drove it for a short time, so further tests to follow....and of course, i never listen much to one report on a machine....I'm loving mine so far, especially since I have a K6 GSXR1000 sitting next to it in the garage

yeah, it kind of surprised me a bit, since my 620 RXC used to just hop up there, but all comes down to suspension, gearing, etc....the 690 SMC is actually pretting nice cruisin down the interstate in 6th gear

yeah, not normal....

i'm wondering if the dealer jacked up the setup....or KTM did, i would take it back to the dealer, have them reinstall the flash in the ECU, and then let it sit at idle for 15 minutes without touching anything, as the ECU has to recalibrate...
